I thought I should properly introduce myself. Hi, I'm emmalee.

Last Saturday I was searching for information in regard to my newly acquired Tinnitus. I followed a Sudafed link and found this forum.

Already I feel welcomed and I detect a sincere sense of community here. My approach, while waiting for my appointment on the 10th of May, is to do my best to remain positive and stay calm. While I have read some downright scary posts, I have found many positive ones, also. I need to remain positive.

Thank-you for the welcome @David Dubros. Yes, there is so much information here, I have been online far too much in the past few days, lol. Also, thank-you for bringing my attention to "Living With Tinnitus."

HI emmalee and welcome aboard. Hope your time here will be a pleasant one.
Take care
Michael

Welcome here Emmalee. Some posts are scary yes. There are several severe tinnitus sufferers here.
You will also find success stories, and it's important to keep in mind that people whose tinnitus is not a problem anymore are less likely to write on a support forum. Success stories happen everyday without any trace of them here.
Anyway, I wish you all the best

Thank-you @Julien87, it is so nice to meet you.

I had no idea just how severe tinnitus could be until coming here and reading through several threads. If I am to be completely honest, until my own tinnitus started I had very little knowledge about the condition at all. I am now in the process of gathering information and using it to help guide me through this. One day at a time is how I am trying to deal with it right now.

Thanks for the welcome, @Rajin. There most certainly needs to be more awareness when it comes to Tinnitus. I have been talking to anyone who will listen about my tinnitus.

@emmalee Hello and welcome to the site. Your response and trepidation is perfectly normal. Hopefully your tinnitus trouble will go away. If it does not, fear not because ultimately, your nervous system will dismiss it as you won't react to it. Countless millions have it in the US alone!

Thank-you so much for the warm welcome @MikeL1972.

Your reassurance helps tremendously.

I have been seeking out positive quotes to help me cope, often times I think I know what to say to myself but putting my feelings into words is another story altogether.

Please feel free to add a quote, one that may resinate with you and how you are feeling on a particular day or moment. I would love to hear how you feel.....

Welcome emmalee. I hope this is just a bump on your journey of life.

@New Guy, thanks for the welcome. Here's hoping this is also just a bump on your own journey. I'm pretty sleepy and am hoping I can get a full night in. Today was a challenge, tomorrow I start fresh.

@Michael Leigh Recommends classical music played in the background just below your T if you don't have a sound machine yet. Keep that on all night. Having classical music or a sound machine won't make your T go away but is sure makes it a lot less noticeable.

@New Guy

I only recommend classical music to be played during the "day" not the night for sound enrichment. Music shouldn't be played for sound enrichment at night, as it can draw attention to itself and evokes emotions so not ideal for the brain. Nature sounds via a sound machine or App played through a suitable device is the preferred source for night use.
