Hi Everyone,
I just found this site after some googling...
Here is my story. Yesterday, as I was heading to work, I had my window slightly opened and during my commute, a car with a very loud motor whizzed by. I did not notice anything during the day in terms of my hearing as I was busy with work and also listened to my headphones (I work as a programmer). I do not listen to music loud. Anyhow, I complete the day and then I get home and do what I need to do, fall asleep while watching TV, then wake up around 11pm to brush my teeth, and get to bed a little after midnight.
As soon as I put my head down on the pillow, I started to hear a tone in my left ear (the same ear that was exposed to the loud engine earlier in the day). Concerned, I went online like 12:30am to check out what tinnitus is and the prognosis for it. Anyhow, as I am typing this message, I still hear this tone. Note that my hearing seems normal as my windows are closed and I can hear the birds chirping outside and cars driving by as well.
It's not like I am a musician or a landscaper constantly exposed to loud noises. This was a one-off event. So my question to you folks is this: based on what I wrote above, should this tone go away or should I hunker down and reach out to my family doctor if it persists? Also, I currently do not have a cold.
Thanks for reading this!
