Looks like Peltor X5A are, in fact, their best performing muffs.

I will try buying 3M earplugs with NRR of 33 dB.

I've been using X5A for the last 2 years. Best protection I've found and they are extremely comfortable.

I admit that I reuse them. Between uses, I keep them in the package they came in. I also wash my hands before I handle the earplugs.

Ok ok great, i think i'll do the same. For shorter drives i often use just my earpeace (20db), but when i use the 3M i dont't want to throw them away because of 10 mins in my ears. Thanks @Bill Bauer

I reuse them until they lose the ability to fully expand and form an air seal against the ear canal.

Yes. Although, if you are going to be somewhere where you could be exposed to louder levels of sound, I would use new ones. Just in case.

Old thread, but thought I'd chime in. I have used ear plugs for 20 some years. Lite sleeper and night noises keep me up. I reuse them time and time again, mostly 3m, but other brands too.
