Lenire — Bimodal Stimulation Treatment by Neuromod

Why? With Bluetooth you do not have to care about another wire (you already have one from the tongue tip to the device). I use Lenire and am happy with it!
Because doesn't Bluetooth add latency, especially where timing is involved?

It does feel an unnecessary marketing extra for a supposed medical device where timing is crucial.

If this really worked, people wouldn't care if this was strapped to a table using a cable 4 foot in diameter.

Sometimes it does feel marketing efforts adding sellable extras aren't necessary if the product is a goldstar solution.

I am glad it is working for you though. Do you feel it reduces the volume of your tinnitus or helped you get used to it (habituate)?

It could be placebo like with Tinnitus Mix that you said reduced your tinnitus back in 2019. Where is your review? I haven't seen any other feedback from you about using Lenire ever.

Bluetooth vs. Wired aside, you seem to have had tinnitus for a very long time. Do you feel it has helped you? Have you experienced a reduction in your tinnitus?
Dear @Tryn2BHopeful, thank you for your question. I started with Lenire on December 28th, so I'm about four weeks into this treatment. I experience less stress. It is like my tinnitus bothers me less.

How much does Lenire cost? Is it possible to try it out before purchasing it? Also, are there contraindications for hyperacusis?

Thank you.
Nope, not returnable. What else would you expect from scammers?

Lenire is designed to assist individuals with moderate tinnitus that has been present for a short duration. However, the audiologist in Beverly Hills is apprehensive about accepting patients like me and @RunningMan because he worries that we might complain about its performance. He is very selective about who he brings on. He has enough business to do that. I was on a Zoom call with him and 50 other people from ATA.
That's shady.

Let me know if you can find out any more information about hyperacusis being contraindicated. That's my chief complaint (hyperacusis in my right ear only), though my tinnitus is now 24/7.

I remember reading that hyperacusis patients have the most success with Lenire.
Although you only have to read through the hundreds of success stories on here to see that hyperacusis symptoms typically reduce or disappear around the 12-24 month stage - usually without using Lenire.

Potentially placebo.

Do you remember where you read this? Genuinely interested.
I believe it was in a video interview with the CEO Ross O'Neill, from like 5 years ago. Not saying I would risk using the device personally, but it was said that people with good hearing and hyperacusis were the highest responders.

I think Tinnitus Hub's "Here's Why the Jury's Still Out on Lenire" article suggests that as well.

Can you find this interview anywhere? I'm interested in this comment in particular. I have a normal audiogram, but constant high pitch tinnitus, yet the hyperacusis is my biggest concern. It's gotten so bad.

Go to the link in @AfroSnowman's post.

Scroll about 1/4 of the way down and you will find links to 2 interviews.
Thanks a ton. I found it here:

But he seems to say hyperacusis patients were highly responsive to the treatment, but then back pedals. So I'm pretty confused. I re-watched it and if I understand it correctly, he says tinnitus patients with concomitant hyperacusis were the most responsive to treatment. But it wasn't a treatment for the hyperacusis in that LDLs didn't necessarily change before and after, but their tinnitus levels drastically did. I'd have to try it for myself. Maybe my tinnitus is so reactive that it constitutes hyperacusis.

Why would a leading hyperacusis-educated audiologist out of Portland, OR tell me she doesn't recommend Lenire for hyperacusis? It's gotta be worth a shot. Time to start saving up for it.

"Does Lenire Work?"
"This is of course the million dollar question."

I would pay a million dollars if it worked. No doubt. But I doubt it works.
As an occasional user, I do believe that Lenire works, just not in a way that is meaningful enough to justify the time and expense.

For example, I'm about a week into a cycle (I've done 3 full treatment cycles over the years) where I am experimenting with dosage (just 30 minutes/day) with the use of microdose Ketamine (60 mg). I noticed last night that I couldn't hear it over the shower. I can always hear it over the shower, so cool, but that is really as much difference as it does for me. It is still 24/7 intrusive painful tinnitus. It takes the edge off a little tiny bit and every bit counts, but aside from allowing me to sometimes shower in peace, it isn't really enough of a difference to justify the cost and the very real time commitment. YMMV, but I think that is pretty consistent with the positive experiences described by others on this forum, that it takes an edge off but is not enough to make a meaningful difference in your QOL.

Dear @HighleyTall,

According to research, it works for about 80% of the people... Maybe that percentage is too high, so let's assume it works for 50%. If you have one million dollars, why not just try it? I saw you live in Belgium, you can get it in Ekeren, near Antwerp, Dr. Andrea Kleine Punte (Audio Noord). I have no financial interests whatsoever, I just want to help.

Kind regards,
Jan

Because it's worsened a significant portion of the people who have used it. 80% of who specifically? Doctors who provide Lenire are very selective in who they approve Lenire usage for, that's already introducing statistical bias.
  • 80% of who specifically?
  • How long did they use it?
  • Chronic/fresh cases?
Etc.

If it worked, I would expect Dr. Andrea Kleine Punte's company (BE0763.368.323) would make profits, not losses.

I think it is better to look at relevant research about Lenire itself than to check the economic performance of Audio Noord... My experience with Dr. Kleine Punte is positive. The first appointment was in real life (audiogram, assessing tinnitus severity, general introduction to Lenire and taking Lenire home) and the second was online (MS Teams). She is well educated, smart, and professional.
So your tinnitus is manageable using the Lenire device? If so, how often do you use it?
Actually I am paying less attention to my tinnitus. It is there but it bothers less. The loudness calmed down a bit. But not much. And sometimes it is even louder...

I use Lenire twice a day, 30 minutes in the morning and before sleep, in bed reading the newspaper on my phone...

Kind regards,
Jan

Your questions are about the research design. It is best to read the scientific article of Conlon et al., published in 2022. I attached the article.

Kind regards,
Jan

So looking at this and knowing a bit about my experience and others' reported here, I wonder if Lenire doesn't just act on the medial pathway. It would explain the sort of handwaving descriptions (it's not quieter, but maybe just not as bothersome) that positive responders have had.
