I know this may be in the wrong section, but I figured, it's the support section right? So why not show our appreciation and give some financial support back to Tinnitus Talk? I wrote this in another thread but I think it's important that it reaches a larger audience.

Behind the scenes there is an incredible amount of work going on. There are volunteers, right now, giving away their time to help all who are suffering with tinnitus. Not to mention the incredible efforts that Markku and Steve have put into this site over the last 7 years.

At Tinnitus Talk, we have a place that we can come to for:

• Support
• Research News
• Treatment Advice
• Socialising and networking
• Fun

There is no other place like it, and I think it deserves more recognition for the lifeline it can provide to people. I know many of us don't even think twice about buying a coffee or a takeaway; or about buying a magazine that we only read once, etc. So, how about we all pull together and each make a small contribution?

Let's make it more interesting. I will personally give £50 ($70 us) back to a random person who donates at least £5 ($7). As long as we get at least 50 people to join in. Anytime someone donates, comment here that you have done so, and once it's verified I will give you a number. In 6 weeks time, if we can get at least 50 donations, I will randomly pick one of you and personally give you £50 ($70).

It will make the world of difference and we would be helping the cause directly.

Hi @Ed209,
I have a direct debit set up for £10 a month directly to Tinnitus Hub/Tinnitus Talk, it's easy to set up...

The way I see it, is if you have had good use of the site, then why not make a small contribution? I know some of us have fallen on hard times, but if everyone chipped in a small amount it would make such a huge difference. I know most of us waste our money on things we don't think twice about, but here we have a great resource at our fingertips. It would be awesome to see a collective effort to give something back; to support the hand that feeds us, so to speak.

I'm fine thank you and a beautiful wedding and stay over in a lovely place for a wedding breakfast...

Love glynis x

I come here daily even while facing my own venoms in life and still show so much love :puppykisses:

Wanna join the campaign Fishbone? It'd be great to see you onboard. Anything you can afford bud; you don't have to bankrupt yourself. If not, then no worries. You offer time and support here :beeranimation:

The tinnitus community is genuinely the most amazing group of people.

When I called the tinnitus hotline the lovely man said to me "hold on a minute love we've just arrived at the resort, we are on holidays" I said " oh gosh I'm sorry, let me call back another time" and he insisted we have a chat.

He chatted to me for 2 hours when he had just started his holiday and told me he keeps the hotline open at all times 24/7. He said if he can save one life it's all worth it, he knows what it's like to reach breaking point. His kindness kept me going on that awful day.

That's one genuinely awesome guy, and it demonstrates the power that an act of kindness can have on a person. If we do one small deed to help someone each day we also help ourselves, as there is no better morale boost. It makes you feel great about yourself.

I often donate to various causes, that catch my eye, throughout the year, and it genuinely gives you a sense of pride and happiness. There is sometimes no better feeling then to help out those who are in need. It recharges your soul.

Right I'm going to bed now, so in the morning I want to see a sea of yellow names (y);)

Come on TT let's make this happen. The community spirit will be stronger than ever!

Night.

Honestly, if you don't feel comfortable donating to the ATA (I know I don't) or to the BTA or any other organizations, the best thing you can do is donate to TinnitusTalk.

In the four years I've had tinnitus I haven't found a more connected, informed, and supportive group of people anywhere else.

Do this site a favor and just make a one time donation if you can't donate all the time.

Without TinnitusTalk, I'm sure there would be a whole bunch of us in worse shape for not knowing what to do or what is currently being done or even that there are other people out there in the world just like us.

It would be really cool to see more of you good folk engaging and helping this site fund its goals. We all benefit from the combined total that we can raise because it all goes towards the same aim of increasing tinnitus awareness and helping new sufferers understand the condition. That's what we all want, so let's do something real to help make these things happen.

I've come to realise over the years that we all do a lot of talking, but we don't make contributions to any organisations that can directly help the cause. We use TT everyday, and there are people here dedicating a lot of their time to doing exactly that, so we may as well start here. I understand some of us may have fallen on hard times, but to anyone who is in a position to contribute something, please do. Tinnitus doesn't raise enough money and I want to make it my mission to help change that and I want everyone here - who can - to step up and make a real difference.

I would just love to see you all engage with the charity side of tinnitus. Later this year I'm planning to do a fundraiser because I want to see some real money being raised for tinnitus research. I would love to see us move on from being keyboard warriors to being real fundraising warriors. Let's make a big difference to how tinnitus is perceived and treated. And by all means, do your own fundraisers as well, and I will be the first to donate.

You're one charismatic advocate for tinnitus research Ed. It's very admirable. I'm currently in an awkward financial situation, having lost my job due to health problems, but I have enough to eat, and enough to get on TinnitusTalk and survive the day, so I can donate 15$ here and there. It probably won't save me, but it might save others, and the people on here are more than worth saving.

Your example should be followed by everyone on the site.

Daniel you're a real hero. It's hard to donate to any cause when money is tight;I know that feeling all too well, so I applaud you. Once we all realise that we can make a difference then real changes can happen. Landing on the moon was impossible until Neil Armstrong walked on there.

Add me to the list @Ed209. The support I and others have gotten on here, makes every dime of my donation worth it ten times over. I'll be sure to make another one in the future.

I can feel the ball is now rolling; that's awesome news Mellow7 (y).

Same. There have been some notable moments for me, on here, where the support pulled me out of a hole, and I really mean that. Obviously, this was when my tinnitus became worse, but also, when a historic chest issue came back to haunt me, I found myself in a very desperate place. Even though it wasn't even tinnitus related, the support here made a monumental difference. It's truly touching to know that people care, and are ready to help, no matter what. That's what I call a community. At no point was I ever asked to give any money, and there has never been any pressure to. I just really feel that it's deserved on so many levels.
