They say lidocaine administered intravenously diminishes tinnitus in about 70% of people from anywhere from 1 hour to 2 days. What if we teach ourselves how to self administer the stuff and keep an emergency supply on hand. Not to use everyday obviously, but just in case of an emergency where one is really yearning for silence. Say, once a week or so. Just a thought

The potential for abuse is huge, and we do not know the side effects of prolonged usage. Given what we see on this forum, I doubt that people can be reasonable with its use (I don't judge: they are driven to irrationality by their T).

No thanks. I would like to avoid the potential side effects and I like being able to use my hands and feet without them being numb. Plus one of the side effects of lidocaine toxicity is . . . tinnitus. o_O

Does anyone have experience obtaining Lidocaine on prescription either as injections or spray via your GP or ENT?

I see mine about once every 3 months for 10 minutes so I barely am able to discuss any possibilities.
