Hi everyone,
I have just joined the forum.
I have been diagnosed with MEM. I experience an ear spasm that is really disconcerting and can last up to ten seconds in my left ear, occurring every couple of minutes. I have read that there may be a potential association with chronic upper back and neck pain, which I also have on my right side. The MEM condition seems to come and go. It can persist for a few months at a time, although it never goes away completely. When it is not spasming, I have a single isolated ticking sound, which is bearable and occurs randomly.
I have received regular treatment from an ENT consultant for bilateral ear canal erosion over the past twenty years. My ear canals and hearing are now better than they have ever been, thanks to his treatment.
However, the ENT specialist now seems unsure about the next steps. He recently recommended a hearing test and a cranial MRI, but neither revealed anything unusual.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
