Hi all - I found Tinnitus Talk through a Hearing Health Foundation article and found that I know little about tinnitus after scanning the forum.

I'm 69 years old and have constant ringing along with regular "crackling" that repeats every 10-15 seconds. Ringing in both ears, but crackling exclusively in left. Doctors have not helped, but in fairness, I have not seen any specialists. I also have had some passing light headed episodes that generally follow my morning workouts. Annual physical coming up in a few weeks and I'd like to change the generally brief, dead end discussion on tinnitus to something with follow up.

Any feedback from forum members is appreciated.

I mean you could see an ENT but there's really not much they can do for you. Your best bet is to just hope that a treatment comes out soon, which could actually be very soon.

Super sorry to hear this. How often does the crackling happen? Does it start randomly, so you aren't doing anything special when it starts?

I have tinnitus and I get cracking/popping occasionally - it's important we don't fear this - instead deep breath, nice positive thoughts and it'll help it settle... Hope can I put this without sounding rude, but just remember to pace yourself with exercise and workload - and when the mind/body want to rest, then do this and not to push too much...

A 15 minute rest daily phone out of the way - positive thoughts of something good is so important to help our minds reboot daily ready for another day ahead...

So an important thing to remember for all of us - when we get these difficult issues is not to fear, this lowers our 'vibes' energy considerably... when these issues worsen - just rest, think of single point concentration - that's focusing on an image for 10 seconds, hold that good thought/image from the past, a beach etc - then again another image, of someone smiling, a vase of flowers etc, this calms the mind - and of course a little less time online, and some time in nature...

I'd just like to say, I've been busy helping elsewhere this morning - but while I was having a coffee this thread and all the issues we all have to deal with on this forum came to mind - a big contributor to all the problems people have to deal with here, are aggravated by stress, adrenalin, fear - and too much time online, over bright screens, all aggravate these issues...

There will be many looking on with similar problems to solve... so an old saying comes to mind - everything in moderation - and when online yes that includes screen time TV 'in moderation' and some time in nature to balance things energy wise... I have a note by my computer 'breathe' because we forget to, deeply enough anyway when stressing, 'searching', messaging online...

We have about 120 grandchildren, just joking it seems that many when we buy Christmas presents - I've told wife just get on big present between them - but as it's our 2nd marriage for us we have many big kids with little kids - and when we go visiting 'them were the days eh' visiting - they 'always' have the TV on in the background as a feature - people here with these problems, please just don't have it on as decoration... and get some pot plants to help balance the vibes/energy in the house...

Hope you enjoy reading and that it might help one or two...

Thanks all for the feedback and insight. Family does not understand what I'm dealing/have dealt with and hearing from others that understand and have developed coping behaviors is invaluable. I found that getting lost in music, reading, tasks, is my most reliable relief and retirement allows plenty of those opportunities.
