Hello. Hoping everyone is staying strong and optimistic.

I know I am and I'm more than grateful to be a part of such a supportive online group. With that said being new to this ailment I still have my inquiries and would like to know if anyone here can relate to my circumstance in a similar regard.
This all began a little over a 1 week ago. The ringing started in my right ear...obviously non stop for 5 days. I seen an urgent care doctor that 5th day and was diagnosed with tinnitus. Miraculously...the day after I awoke from night sleep to a much lower pitched sound. I couldn't believe it. I went back to sleep and woke up that morning without any trace of t whatsoever.

Since then it came back only in the right ear...went away...came back at a different tone...went away...came back...and even today I woke up with it all day...until now. It isn't ringing at all. Nothing. But I feel like it's going to come back considering the pattern.

Can anyone here relate? If so...how long have you had t? And do you have your suspicions as to the cause?

And there it goes again....just started ringing as I typed the last sentence! It's crazy.

When I first start to experiencing it, for the five-six first years, I had something similar, but not the same. Now, I have it all the time. I can't really give you tips or talks about what it could be or how it'll elvolve, but if you wanna talk, I'm here :)

I'm guessing yours was on and off? How long would it stop ringing if that's what you mean by similar? Do you know why yours started? Mine had nothing to do with loud noises. I don't have a tumor and the audiologist said I have some of the best hearing she's ever recorded...like a 10 year olds...was her exact words. I'm almost certain it's my medication doing it. I renember going out to bars and drinking too much in the past and waking up the following day with tinnitus. And it would ring for hours. But those instances were years ago. I also have zero damage to either ear according to the ENT doctor.

I experienced variations with tone & volume in the beginning as well.
I'm assuming you spoke to the ENT about your medication and whether or not it's ototoxic?

The problem with tinnitus is that there are a variety of reasons why we may have it. Since it's a symptom of an underlying condition, it makes treating it all the more difficult; unless it's your medication which may be controlled.
My tinnitus wasn't caused by a loud noise, per se, but it was caused by noise; years of earphone use.

Back then, I had a very good hearing too. I could ear some things that an "average/normal" hearing and even a good one could not hear, but I also had an accident and I was born at 27 weeks so my ears was awesome, but fragile. At 12, I had a hearing trauma and even if it hadn't affect my hearing until the end of my 18, sometime I could stop hearing and just have the rining (always unsure of how to write it) for some seconds. It could happen 1 to 3 times a days. After that, during one year or two, it stopped and I just had the other thing that had been cause by the trauma. At the end of my 18, the rining came back and never left this time. Doctor and specialist found nothing. It's probably just because of my birth.
