Looking for Muffs for Protection

It really depends on your sensitivity. For motorbike maybe it is appropriate, but don't classic earplugs provide you enough protection when you take the bus or the plane?

You have to put them in your ear, and that's not comfortable/practical for some people/situations. You might put them in incorrectly so they might leak. You might put hem too deep and hurt yourself, etc.

Earmuffs are so much better, easier and more comfortable. I would never use earplugs if it haven't been for the fact that I look like an idiot in earmuffs

Extra points for not making me look like an alien :D

What about noise cancelling headphones then? You'll just look like you're listening to music. Looks pretty normal nowadays :)
Some of them can reduce the noise level by 30 dB. But they can be quite expensive.

I don't care what I look like. I live in Thailand...

Looks don't matter over here...sooooooooooo much fish in the sea, as long as you have 2 legs and 2 arms you are handsome!

I have a similar dilemma. I can't decide between 27, 33 and 37dB. I need them for flying/buses. Extra points for not making me look like an alien :D
Any claim of 35 or 37db reduction with earmuffs alone is BS. The peltor X5A which is about the best earmuff you can buy is a realistic 31db reduction.

I have Bose QC25. They passive noise reduction is superior to PartyPlugs, so that's quite nice :) They are perfect for walking around the city and buses. However, I feel like I could sometimes use some extra attenuation when flying (I have to fly a few times every year), or even during longer bus rides.

I don't want to use active noise reduction - there is some uncertainty regarding their safety. I mean, I don't see how they could do any harm but better safe than ringing ;)

I was at about 40-50 db at idle on my mobile phone, it's an conditioned Benz, I sit downstairs in first class.

I would suspect it goes to about 60-80db at cruise, but probably closer to 60db

I'm just super paranoid, have only had bad h for about a month, bus ride is 11 hours so scared.

I'm pretty sure I will be fine, but there is this fear and doubt in my mind...

There are no audiologists here in Thailand, so I don't know my LDL

I just did 8 hours in a car with 35db peltors, ambient noise was 60db average at 100kph with peaks of 75, Toyota Camry 2008

My t rang afterwards for about an hour but it was fine
