Loud Movie Last Night — Screaming Tinnitus Today. Will It Return to Baseline?

Do you wear ear plugs? You can get musicians ear plugs, they do a pretty good job and you can still hear clearly.

They are cheap too. Around 20 bucks at any music store.

Telis I have a little container that houses my ear plugs if I go to a pub or something the minute someone plays that jukebox I imediately to for my little container and pop them in.....people always ask me what's in my little container thinking probably that it's something other the my ear plugs ....I get all kinds of weird responses but het I never leave home without them and they do work ....I still kind of go into panics mode as soon and I hear anything loud .

Vegas Robb,
My tinnitus spikes every time after a dinner party or visit to the movies, but it always goes back down after a couple of hours. You should be fine! Courage!

I wrote a thread about the exact same issue and the exact same movie. I saw it without plugs and took severe punishment. Louder T. It has been a couple of weeks now. It has not returned to baseline. But I had a similar noise exposure back in april. Took a good three months for it to come down to a reasonable level. Think you should be fine. WHat is it about Interstellar though???

I can't even remember how many times I've had my Tinnitus spike.
It's normal and it almost always goes back to baseline, unlucky few on this thread excluded :(
Mine is currently a lil' spiked from some dude yelling, after my cold it was spiked for a month and some change so don't you worry about a thing.

Guys, I initially got my (severe) tinnitus from going to the cinema. It was the movie, Die Hard 5. Take care of those speakers and screeching high pitches! There might be a lot of them in the movie.

I went to see interstellar last night and it was incredibly loud. I woke up at 4am with louder than usual T and it is continuing hours later..will it return to baseline...thanks..

I saw Interstellar this weekend too; yes, it was very loud. It is very likely to return to baseline.

YES - It will Return to normal. Good for you for getting out there and enjoying your life in the mean time. I stick tissue in my ears at the movies. It seems to help better than ear plugs because I can always custom fit!

Temporary spikes can last months. So even after a month of it being above your baseline, there is still a chance that it will eventually fade. Having said that, we are given a limited number of second chances. If you continue seeing movies at movie theaters (even if you wear hearing protection), it might eventually catch up with you, and eventually the sound might get permanently louder...
