Does anyone else experience increased bursts of tinnitis..

Like I'll be sitting there and bang, just get a loud tone that isn't my normal baseline that comes out of nowhere then goes away from anywhere to 10 secs-1 minute.

Yeah..it happens to most of us here...nothing to stress about .. promise x

I haven't been on here for a while. Still on the road to habituation. I deal with it a lot easier now, apart from those short bursts.

Hallo everybody,

I oftenly have high spikes for seconds, they usually occur in one ear each time. I've heard it's totally normal but I now worry if this is a sign that tinnitus is going worse. Anybody else with the same symptom?

Thank you all in advance.

Hi Konstandinos,

I think it's perfectly normal. I see it as an ear spasm, nothing to worry about. Before my tinnitus time I had those spikes too, but less frequent. When I am stressed I experience them more often. But my tinnitus doesn't get worse. I think it's rather stress/anxiety which makes them occur more often.
My audiologist told me that those spikes will go away first once my anxiety is gone.

Kind regards,
Rudy

I hear some small eeeee , mini tinnitus sounds, they are usually lower frequency than my main sound. They last a few seconds then go away.

Main sound about 13 000 megahertz, spikes maybe about 8000

What is this?

Is my body healing? Or scarring? Or tiny hairs are still dying?

This is after possible loud noise exposure 30 days ago...

I have prednisone pills, does it mean there is hope and the body is still in healing phase?

That happens to me before i even had T, or even before i knew what Tinnitus what. Actually it was because of that, that i started googling it. Mine usually last no more than 5 seconds, it happens a lot before. But then sometimes it takes 3 months or so apart sometimes 4 times a month. My hearing would suddenly stop and all i can hear is a "eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee" then it slowly fades, and it vanishes. scares the crap out of me! But when it started happening a lot i learned to react to it less. It hasn't happened since my T onset. I'm not looking forward to that :(
Does is sound like a high hiss pitch, like a mini Tittinus? Last a few seconds, I get it at night mostly, or when I'm on my motorbike with helmet on, or swimming. Whenever I can hear the Titinnus.

I get this 2-3 times a day

Hallo again,
I'm going through a very difficult period as my tinnitus is stronger since last week.
Minutes ago I experienced avery loud spike for about 30 seconds in my left ear and gone but I am so anxious now that I'm not sure if my ear is still ringing stronger or the same as before the spike.
Out of panick I took cortisone pills in order to prevent any further hearing loss.
I was already extremely stressed and worried about my tinnitus and I don't know if that was the reason of this spike.
Any similar experience?

Does fleeting T lead to permanent T? I have fleeting T for several years and it happens more often now then before. It always goes away after 10 to 20 seconds. Thxs

Short answer is nobody knows for sure. In my personal experience, I never had fleeting T until I had actual T. However others have had fleeting T before getting actual T.

nobody knows. use ear protection and avoid toxic drugs just in case! and be veeeeryyyy happy you don't have non-stop tinnitus!

I've had tinnitus about three months and have been getting these short momentary spikes where my tinnitus becomes a high pitched true ringing.

After a moment it seems normal, pretty much the same as always. When I've read about other peoples spikes, and they seem to be all longer lasting from what I've seen in the forum.

I was just wondering if anyone had similar experiences. I would like to believe it's a sign of improvement, but it's probably just random.

Every once in a while one of my ears will completely go silent and then suddenly a loud pure tone sound will ring in my ear for a few seconds and then go away. It's been happening more frequently lately and one the other day went on for almost 2 minutes. I do worry some that one of these will start and not stop one day.

Anyone else experience anything like this?

I have experienced it a few times, a high pitched tone, but only for a couple of seconds. Just long enough to freak med out :)

I know that people here at the forum say that fleeting T is not dangerous for your ears, but I dont know what to belive anymore since I having such bad experiences with them. Fleeting T is the only thing that can spike my T. Nothing elses like loud noise, salt, coffe, nothing. Luckely I only get them once a month or so, and of course not all of has been bad for me.

I remember first time I experienced fleeting T I was six month in to tinnitus. That night my ear was ring loud the whole night, but suddenly stopped early next morning.

Before I used to have T only in my right ear but after a massive Fleeting T attack my left ear also started to ring/hiss. I I am pretty sure that that the Fleeting T kickstarted tinnitus in that ear too. This happened six months ago.

Fleeting T means bad trouble, atleast for me.

Yesterday my non T ear suddenly felt as if something had hit my ear drum from the inside (only way I can describe it). Almost like a silent boom. It wasn't painful in any way just weird! Then my T ear went silent for about 30 seconds. It felt incredibly weird.....the silence was eerie, scary almost. Then I had a high pitched ring for ten seconds or so before normality was resumed! It was so crazy it made me laugh out loud! But on the plus side, once upon a time it would have freaked me out. This time I just thought how mad T is and got on with it.

Hi All
Over the last few months of hell my T has gradually increased in intensity and my ability to cope with daily life has diminished with a few sun spots in between.

I just had something happen that through me into a panic. I was sitting at my desk and the T on my left side increased to the point i wanted to jump out of my seat. I mean unbearably loud and high pitched! It lasted for about 5 seconds and then went back to where it was.

If it had stayed like that i would have to organise a padded cell. Has anyone experienced that? And is that the sign of bad things to come? I had to sedate myself after that. I always have emergency back up.

Thanks for all your support so far. xo
