Cause of Tinnitus
No clue
Hi my name is Alexandra.
I think I am losing my mind.
I cannot sleep.
Any background noise I try fails to drown out the constant buzzing.
I have TMJ and am not sure if this is related. I cannot afford treatment at this time. Had anyone had treatment for TMJ and had a resolution? At this point I am willing to sell everything of value I own except my house, to seek treatment that will free me from this. Can anyone give me hope? I greatly appreciate it.

Take melatonin to fall asleep at night; thats what I take. And you wont go insane, It'll get better, try using a fan to fall asleep as well. TMJ is also the cause of my T, I grind my teeth at night, and my E-tubs are messed up as well apparently since i have sinus , it can also link up all together with TMJ causing the buzzing. I'll keep you in my prayers.

Sorry about your suffering from T. Don't panic and despair. Your T is so new. It may yet fade or disappear. What is the cause of your T? Is that a high pitch T? Perhaps you can try to mask it with these masking sounds. Give it a try. Take care & God bless.

TT's own excellent masking sounds:

If you need more masking sounds, here is free 'aire freshener':

Rain sounds are soothing indeed. You can mix your own rain sounds with this rain generator:

Search youtube with 'masking sounds' and you will also get lots of different nature sounds, such as rain, waves, waterfalls, running brooks, insect sounds, even shower & faucet etc.

Thank you for your comforting replies. I am listening to my wave / seagull loop stressing over being unable to fall asleep. I have to get up early.

I am pretty sure my T is TMJ related. I was diagnosed years ago. I haven't pursued treatment due to the cost. My insurance won't cover it.

Emanuel have you had splints or mouth guards made? If so do they work? What are the chances of TMJ resolving with appliances?

I also have neuropathy which I suspect was caused by statins. I am in PT now for tingling down my right arm caused by a herniation at C6-c7. Those two conditions are not nearly as bad as the T. I'd take the neuropathy and neck/arm pain over T any day.

I just feel like I'm losing it. I cry a lot which stuffs me up and that does not help.

I see my PCP later this morning. I am guessing he won't be of much help. I probably out to find a new PCP.

Thank you both for replying and for your prayers. I really appreciate it.

If you can't see the pro for help, perhaps try some self help recommendations for TMJ. Here are some sites for some self help TMJ:

Don't panic and despair. Tinnitus requires time and patience plus some good strategies to help turn around. Stress and anxiety can make T worse. Be patient. Your T is very new. You never know it will fade or disappear after your TMJ issue is resolved. But crying over T is quite normal, as the nerve is in overload mode and crying is a natural release of that extreme emotion. I know of a moderator in another forum who said he cried for 2 years but he is back to living a normal life now.

T is not something you can rush or will it to go away. Be patient. Don't fall into the trap of the lies of this T bully. It tells you T is an end game and you are losing it. I fell for the lie a few years back and suffered big time. Now all I can say is that I wasted a lot of mental suffering had I known that I would be living a normal and absolutely enjoyable life despite my ultra high pitch dog whistle T and severe H. My T is so loud and piercingly high pitch that it cuts through almost all sounds, including the jet noise in my last few flights. I can even hear it above the raging rapids in the salmon river I fish. It packs with so much condensed energy, like a laser in a night sky, like a dentist drill with 10 times the pitch. I never thought I could stand this sound for long nor ever habituate to it. But never say never. I am living a normal and happy life again and I have written my success story. I list many important points & strategies which have helped me. If you have time, read it up. Have patience and wait out the storm. Your good life can be back and you will enjoy your angelic daughter soon. Believe it. Take care of yourself. God bless.

Hi Billie -
I went to my Pcp and was crying. The assistant sat there and smacked gum the whole time I was trying to explain my situation. I couldn't believe my BP was 120/80 in the state I was in. Pcp said he thought it was a nerve not TMJ and referred me to an ENT who I see tomorrow. I tried to keep busy to distract myself. It worked for awhile. Now I've got the pulsing again. I will try to be patient but didn't pass that lesson taught by the nuns

Thank you so much for replying. Feel like I'm on an island. My husband doesn't get it.

I will definitely read your story.
