Any experience? Only asking because it's an anti-inflammatory and I usually try to stay clear of them... But my GP thinks I have bursitis in my hip and it's bloody painful, so if it's not going to upset my tinnitus I'd like to give it a go.

(Only short term - just a week to see if it helps, otherwise I'll be off to a specialist)

Thanks guys xxx

Not sure...

But I manage pain with...

Omega 3
Glucosamine and Chondroitin
Anti-inflammatory diet
Tumeric
Quercetin
Gut health
acupuncture myotherapy and trigger point injections

Also... you could consider intra joint injection steroids/anaesthetic... more direct effect... less systemic side effects... I've had these done on my shoulder...worked a treat!

Thanks deb. I guess my trouble is we aren't entirely sure that it is definitely bursitis.
We are just trying the anti inflammatorys for a week to see if they help. If they do that's great, but if not then we will explore further. My hip X-Ray was fine so that's a positive

I was prescibed Mobic recently... I already have tinnitus (cause not known for sure) and I was wondering if anyone has any thoughts if it would worsen tinnitus or not, thanks for your thoughts.

Hi, I'm new to this forum, but I'm wondering if anyone has had tinnitus develop (or existing tinnitus worsen) after taking Meloxicam and, has it subsided if/when the drug was stopped? I have taken it off an on (for short periods) over the last few years for osteo-arthritic knee pain. 18 months ago I had orothopaedic surgery for chondrosarcoma (bone cancer) and was non weight-bearing for 6 months - relying on various mobility aids to get around. I was taking 7.5mg, but increased it to the 15mg dose to help combat the other "structural" pain I was having, especially lower back pain hip pain from extended sitting and generally awkward and unnatural movement - on knee walker, crutches and so forth. I have been taking it daily for the past 6-8 months. I feel I've always had some discernible (low level) ringing in my ears, but it is now very noticeable and much louder than ever before. I'd be interested to know what others have experienced.

Can someone please share their experience with this medication?

I'm experiencing a lot of pain due to an injury. My doctor knows I have tinnitus but prescribed this, and I'm reading all of these accounts of ototoxicity. I couldn't do the MRI because it was so loud, I started panicking just hearing it from outside the room.

I want to know if someone else who's taken this medication can provide information.
