Hi folks,

On seeing the ENT I mentioned ear pain and the weird feeling of muscular tension over all my head.

Does anyone else have this?

As all my tubes seem clear, he seems to think my ear pain is muscular related?

Cheers.

Hey there,

I have sometimes for a few seconds like a "needle in my ear" pain. Not very often and it really goes away in seconds. It only appears on my left ear where I also have a hearing loss 90db at 5khz and Tinnitus. Right ear nothing like that. Additional I have numb feeling on the left side of my head beginning at the back, front, forehead, cheek, etc. (only left side)

Tubes are also clear i just have a sinusitis also left sided seems to be chronic but ENT says thats not the reason for the numb feeling.

Are your muscular tensions more like a numb feeling like I have? My orthopedist told me that it could happen from fascia problems around your shoulders/neck. I do a lot of workaround right now and some massages...to get the tension of the fascia away but it appeared with my hearing loss/tinnitus so I am not sure if it is not related to it...still try to find answers for that.

Dont know if that input helps you!

See, you have organic problems? Addressing those organic problems may bring down the tinnitus.

Yes thanks for the info. Yes its a bit like a numb feeling. For both of us perhaps its the tension caused by our reaction to the Tinnitus. The ENT told me I have no Sinnusitis infection, so its a hard one to figure out.

My nose also seems to swell up a bit at times.

Very Strange.

Cheers.

I have had this exact thing during periods of stress and worry. Doctors suggested sinus or dental/TMJ sources. It was none of those. Sometimes it can make your head feel heavy too. It does go away! It can take weeks or longer though. It's one of those things where there is no clear cause. Whether it be neurotransmitters or muscular tension, or both. But it does and will go away once you start to feel peace and contentment again.

@monkey legs yeah maybe we both just feel it different tension/numb feeling but you are right when I think about it it also could be "tension" but when I move my muscles in my face its like I only move them underneath my skin. Hard to explain. I was at a chriopractor and he used a method they do for tinnitus/hearing loss patients. I cant remember I had to stop going their as my calendar was full with other doctor appointments but I will go there again when I get some free time. Do you have your T on both ears?

I also took out my wisdom tooth left top side where the tension is located. Still little bit swollen. Everything feels like no blood is pumping anymore to my left side. Really strange.

@tiniturtle thank you so much for your input here. Was it just one side you hade problems with or both?

When I do a lot of sports like running or at home bringing my pulse up it seems to go away for an hour maybe.

Last night I noticed a kind of tension in the head. I really do not know if it was muscle tension or was the background of my head (due to the loss of frequencies, and hearing loss in general). The issue is that it was extremely annoying, it was much more present than my usual buzzing. like a honeycomb, or an anthill. I felt tingling. As if I had my head full, swollen. I felt a bit dazed. as the noise floor of the music equipment (this is the best way to define it that I have).
Is this something similar to yours?

I agree %100. It happened to me also last summer and one of them lasted for 2 weeks, I was about to go crazy. Still happens to me time to time but only lasts a few minutes.

hey. thx for the answer
How long do you feel like that?
sometimes at night I find that background more present than my buzz

I have felt like that for almost 2 weeks now. And yes the tension seems more than the ringing.

I hope we both find a solution.

Cheers.

I hope so. My day is not so difficult if I find something to listen to that is not my head. Sometimes I wonder how much this condition can worsen
:cautious:
Anyway, I never read about something like what happens to us since I'm in the forum

I have this condition now for at least 3-4 months. ENTs said that this could be from my hearing loss like touching my ear doesnt feel the same anymore as before my hearing loss (more numb), others said its from pills I took in the beginning of my hearing loss "blood flow stimulation". Now thats months ago and I still have that condition!

@monkey legs , @fran dana , @Melike , @tiniturtle you all have nearly same symptoms could I ask you if you all have hearing loss? just a quick research and how many db at which hz? And if your T. is high frequency. I just want to know if those symptoms are hearing loss related or T. related (high tones - stresslevel) or maybe both.

Tension: head, left sided, forehead, cheek, chin and going all back behind my head.
Tinnitus: left ear, high tones, electrical noises, going up and down all the time - changing very often
Hearing loss: at 5khz 90db same for all khz above 5khz so high frequencies completly gone.
Hearing aid: none

Hi. The last time I went for a hearing check (nearly a year ago), I had no hearing loss up until 8000khz, at least no hearing loss that can be detected by the current tech. Yes, normally I do have a high frequency T (not super high tho, close to 8000-9000 khz range), but it changes into a hiss(sometimes loud, sometimes quiet) very frequently nowadays.

@monkey legs ,
In the title to your thread, you describe the tension you feel as a "tight band". I have used similar words to describe the way I feel, especially during a spike. I have told my husband that it feels like rubber bands being stretched from my ears to the top of my head. On a good day, the bands feel loose and on a bad day they feel very tight.

Hello there,

According to my 3 hearing tests, my hearing is normal - which really suprised me! Its objectively normal but some things sound really strange to me like birds cheeping and car brakes.

Cheers.

Hi! the last time I did a study my hearing was normal, but in the last year I'm sure I suffered hearing loss, especially the right ear although I think a bit of the left side too. shortly I'm going to make another audiogram and I'll tell you exactly in what frequencies I find myself harmed. Like, as your ENT said I think the feeling is due to the loss of hearing, I agree with that. The sounds are heard opaque, in relation to what they were before (water, voices, musical instruments). What I can tell you is that my high frequencies are the most affected

@monkey legs Could be related to neck problems pinching nerves that radiate pain to your head. Does your head feel like is throbbing at times??? Almost inflating like a balloon at times?

@Melike yeah mine is also some kind of hiss. hard to describe and I think everybody has his own experience with noises. Interesting that you have no hearing loss.

@monkey legs same here but I have hearing loss so I think some kind of distortion is normal. Maybe you have some hearing loss above 8khz? I have hearing loss from 5khz up and I hear nearly normal but have troubles with loud noises and of course in restaurants problems to understand everything.

@fran dana will be interesting what your hearing test will show.

funny is that all here have no hearing loss in the main areas (speech areas) - I also just slightly hit the speech area. but we all have a Tinnitus and the tension so it might be Tinnitus related or the overall condition (stress?). Normally you should all also have a diffeerent feeling of your ear (numb) which would be normal for hearing loss indication.

I was today again at physical therapy and they told me to try to trigger the muscles at the back of my head which are on top where they connect to the skull - maybe with some kind of blackroll or 2 tennis balls.
