My Posting Place

I don't know, typical loud noise environments, busy living my life. I've had different levels of T my whole life. (I did have a virus that caused bad vertigo twenty years ago, from cleaning a room of roach and rodent filth.) Then an unexpected compressed airblast in a small room with glass panels sent it over the top. I wish I had my old T back but moving forward now.
wow, I wasn't even born when you were cleaning that room

i wish i was your age.

back when i was your age i thought i would eventually grow out of being a degenerate and that i had free time to kill.

early 20's. not yet a boomer
isn't it pathetic how a full grown adult that should be in classes making friends and working is spending all day shitposting on a tinnitus forum?

I'm the same - similar age, should be studying, exploring my interests, exploring the world; but instead all busy with terrible tinnitus. But while I think it's tragic, I don't think it's pathetic. HL and severe T are horrendous conditions and nobody can ever be blamed for these conditions throwing their life completely off course.

Would there be a superior test online, or would a visit to the ENT only be good enough?
There may or may not be a superior test online but a visit to an ENT would be almost guaranteed to be even less useful

I have heard standard headphones and computers are somewhat inaccurate because of computer equalizer settings and they aren't medical devices in a completely silent booth.

i never questioned why though? but I'm going to assume that they are correct

Hey guys, I'm in my early 30's, you're young. You have plenty of life to live. They will more than likely have the cure by the time you're my age. I have a 2 year old and that makes me sad to think I have to share the cutest, best years of my son's life with this shitnitus. Try and be strong and push through this and get your educations, try and fall in love etc. What else can we do? I'm starting to realize that this is among the worst things that could have happened to us. I'd almost rather be in prison. I honestly have no idea whether or not fx322 is going to work or not or give us brain tumors later in life who knows. We just have to push through this and have hope. I do think this, if they restore our hearing and or cure tinnitus, that we will be better people afterwards. Most people are little babies about all kinds of stuff and we are pretty much already like effum and their stupid non-problems.

age doesn't matter

I have a question does acoustic trauma/loud noise damage the outer cochlea cells first or the inner cochlea cells. Outer cochlea cells amplify sound while inner cochlea cell deliver sound to the brain.

So if somewone has an acoustic trauma from lets say a concert, which will get damaged first? I would say inner cochlea cells but I could be wrong.

Then it will resume. Otherwise now is immense pain, misery, and suffering.
Me and @Contrast suffer a lot we have a lot of hearing damage.
well for your's and all of our sake, I hope it does. I am hopeful. So far it seems very promising. Regrowing mammal cochlear cells has never been done before the last couple years, and it has happened, in living animals. It may have happened in that Phase 1 trial, we just don't know yet. We may not even know after December either when this phase is over because the outcome measures don't include efficacy.

https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT03616223?term=fx+322&rank=1

Detailed Description:
Sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL) accounts for about 90% of all cases of hearing loss. The study will assess the safety of FX-322 given as a single intratympanic injection in subjects with a medical history of sensorineural hearing loss that is associated with noise exposure or sudden hearing loss. Safety will be evaluated both systemically (lab and clinical monitoring) and locally (otoscopy and audiometry) in 24 subjects, and a blood PK profile of FX-322 will also be determined.

So we will know if it made their hearing worse. I highly doubt it will make it worse when it made mice's hearing better.
From:

"Another reason rodents are used as models in medical testing is that their genetic, biological and behavior characteristics closely resemble those of humans, and many symptoms of human conditions can be replicated in mice and rats. "Rats and mice are mammals that share many processes with humans and are appropriate for use to answer many research questions," said Jenny Haliski, a representative for the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Office of Laboratory Animal Welfare."

We should be hopeful.

Medications to repair inner ear damage:
inside the inner ear is a very small spiral tube called the cochlea. The cochlea contains the nerve endings that transmit sound vibrations from the middle ear to the auditory nerve. Noise-induced damage to the 15,000 tiny hair cells and neurons in the cochlea or to the auditory nerve is the leading cause of hearing loss and tinnitus, many researchers believe. And while there are existing drugs for effectively treating middle ear infections, nothing so far works on the cochlea. But researchers, drug companies and investors are partnering to change that. In November 2017, Decibel Therapeutics of Boston entered into a partnership with Regeneron, a biotech drug developer in Tarrytown, New York to develop tinnitus relief therapies that target the cochlea. And in Woburn, Massachusetts, Frequency Therapeutics is focusing on developing small molecule drugs that activate dormant progenitor cells, or types of stem cells, to repair damaged cochlear hair cells. This could potentially restore both age-related and noise-induced hearing loss in patients and in theory, improve or treat tinnitus symptoms. In December, Frequency announced the successful completion of a Phase 1 human study of FX-322, a progenitor cell activation drug, demonstrating its safety and tolerability. The team at Frequency expects to start a Phase 2 clinical study in the second half of 2018.
