i have a horrifying hypothesis i just though of, do not take this as a fact whatsoever it's just my dumb speculation.

Let's state a fact, total deaf and very hard hearing people do not suffer from hyperacusis.

Let's say painful hyperacusis is caused by a minority of OHC nerve fibers being damaged.

Frequency Therapeutics regenerates a partial deaf guys hearing to near fully restored but then he ends up with painful hyperacusis because the nerve fibers are still damaged and now with hair cells they can send the pain signal to the brain.

I did DPOAE on right ear and the outer cochlea cells worked fine, but I wonder if I damaged the auditory nerve fibers. The hearing is perfect on that ear with mild T but with bad Hyperacusis.

i wish there were professionals that can answer these questions. I have no clue

email researchers and ask them like I plan on doing,

don't view me as a source of authority, I am not @dpdx

Thanks Contrast. I will ask my audiologist. I apologize if I hurt your feelings or offended you. I view you as the most educated on this forum thus why I ask you questions.

dont ask those idiots that told you "stress causing 30 db of hearing loss"

I meant email actual researchers and read the work they publish.

I would think that being a doctor (or audiologist) is a preselection for being intelligent. So I wonder why most of these guys totally drink the 250-8000 hz Stone Age koolaid. It's weird, really.

Yeah man, I am obsessively always thinking about this stuff, and it very well may be far beyond our ability to totally rectify. The hearing sense system is very, very, very complicated. I don't know what Decibeltx has up their sleeve but they have a really friggen tall order to fulfill. Frequencytx, to me, right now seems like a 50/50 or less shot in the dark. I'm hopeful, but I am not betting the house on it.

@Contrast isn't a doosh. I'm sure you didn't really hurt his feelings. It is our mutual hardship that brings us together here and I believe that Contrast fully acknowledges that. He's not an irrational drama queen. I mean. who the "f" really wants to be a part of tinnitustalk.com? We are all friends. I'd postulate that we are great friends, beyond all kinds of other stuff. I genuinely love all of you in this masquerade ball. I wish we could live on the same block and hang out all the time and collaborate, play board games, etc.

I had to apologize to some people on this forum for asking them some questions, they were offended by my words. I wont name anyone.
