There was a lull ofc but it was short and not nearly as bad as people remember it.
What do you mean? Between the Greeks and when things started up again (somewhere near time of Copernicus) was a good thousand or 1500 years no?

We can't say that things started up again because that implies that they ever stopped. Sure they went slower but progress never stopped or reversed.

Fair. We'd still have been farther ahead. But yeah either way no use crying over spilled beakers.

the gateway mechanism's for tinnitus and phantom limb pain development are super complex and way over my head and probably have times of exceptions and I look like a retarded twerp trying to over simplify things.

Infact scientist aren't even certain about how phantom limb pain originates, lack/ damaged peripheral input plays a role but there are surely a lot more mechanisms and I look foolish jumping to conclusions.

I'm so confused, I do not understand audiotory/somatic or any neuro-science.
if the research is going way above my head that means they are making progress.
Well yes there may be additional mechanisms but this does not disprove central gain theory. So, it is still likely that reversing hearing loss would reduce or eliminate T. At least in many cases.

We have a chance at least. My dad had to have his stapeas removed due to infection. Left him with 40% hearing and a hurricane of tones in his head. No amount of Fx22 will help him. Makes me sad
May I ask why the Fx22 will not work? Does it not work for moderate hearing loss people?

Thank you :) well he could get a hearing aid and it would probably fix most of it. I'm not sure if he's stubborn, or cheap haha
Hearing aids will definitly help ease his tinnitus, he should look into his insurance plans, try to encourage him, it will make his life better; hearing good and hearing less of his tinnitus :)

i mean like... the slow down of scientific advancement part of it... or am i dumb
It slowed down in the west because Rome's internal trade networks broke down, but it flourished in the Muslim world. After the crusades we connected with them and learned alot and that led to the Renniassance then the mongolians destroyed the Muslim world of science and we had the science football.

@Deathtotinni should be back home now I would think. I'm very interested to know what happened. Maybe he had to sign an NDA and cant talk to us.

Why does curing diseases and helping suffering people have to be a business? What if firefighters had to have business plans and profit margins to operate?

Does anyone know if this earplugs will offer me good protection around a big city or a loud restaurant?
I've used Elvex Quattro's for many years, yard work, driving, whatever. They last forever, are easy to clean. The string makes it easy to remove around your neck to have handy to replace to your ears. (I use the foam kind, a different brand, in flesh color if needed to be hidden. You can cut the foam to different sizes.) Not as easy to wear as the blue corded quattros, which now I don't care if visible.

I dont think I can find those in my country

The only part of the auditory system that cant heal are destroyed hair cells, right? So wouldnt regenerating them possibly be the main fix for everything? Our bodies can heal and regenerate other boo boos. Dizzam I wish we had more information. The government is soooooooo slow. Except firefighters, they are fast.

The slow pace that they are developing all of this is infuriating me. Fuck the law, fuck the FDA, fuck profits. People are losing their minds over this and other things. We are suffering immensley. Fx322 passed the safety study, they probablyhave enough data now to know if it works, and if it cures or attenuates tinnitus. WHY CANT WE KNOW TOO? IF WE HAD JUST A LITTLE INFO IT WOULD HELP US ALL TREMENDOUSLY.

Why cant they just say:
"X number of test subjects reported (blank) affect on their tinnitus."

Fuckin fuck I hate the system. Everything has to be a damn secret.

I'm completely discouraged, even though my hyperacusis is completely gone.

imagine the first week of college and the promise of a better life being ruined by hearing loss, tinnitus and painful hyperacusis that was much worse at the time and getting no sympathy and nothing but " i told you you would fail"
from a family that hates me.

I can never return to the previous biological and financial state of existence, no one cares if a mentally ill person commits suicide, it's not worth working hard when the odds are extremely biased against me, and mindfullness, mental perseverance were methods I tried long before I screwed up my hearing.

my life has gotten so much worse ever since last year all my friends and life scenarios that barely existed or would have completely left me. with a playing field this uneven I would rather sit home on the internet all day.

thinking about turning suffering into mental toughness makes my stomach turn inside out, I can't do it.

however I'm probably going to get a job, and contribute something to society so maybe I can afford a treatment, however with a documented mental illness that drastically worsened since I damaged my hearing I don't know how i'll fair. I'll just wait on clincial trials for SNHL and kill myself within 5-10 years if they fail.

in the past I enjoyed being employeed, late 2017 I was employeed, volunteering and starting the first week of classes, (by defintion I was still very shaky and anxiety ridden knowing 4.5 years behind most people my age. But I thought I was finally in a respectable position in life.

cochlear synaptopathy is a personal insult to me. No amount about mental conseuing can undo this damage.
it is so much more personal to do then a neurotyical who damages there hearing, habituates and accepts the hearing loss.

there is no chance in hell I'm going to permanently accept this deceit.
The other members who have undergone regular stem cell treatments have positive feedback, why can't this produce the same results? There is no way to know for sure but there also isn't a reason why we should give up every article we read. Scientists have backtracked their claims numerous times, why won't they do it again? If it doesn't hurt, the odds are it'll probably help.
