alrighty then.

Why is his sign in English?

I will say that I don't know how I feel about going into a blue box in a strip mall to get intratympanic injections.
From what I have heard from other people on here that kind of thing is actually pretty normal in South Korea. Also, Cheong-Min shut down. He works under Solsam now.

I just emailed a journalist in South Korea. Maybe he can help us. Hopefully he responds.

Better to send somebody who knows how to investigate stuff than to sit and wait I guess.

keep investigating Ed, It's up to JohnAdams to make a choice

But if he was regenerating people's hearing why wouldn't he be in his own building? Or at an actual hospital? I'm sorta wanting some third party info now. I spent awhile today searching in Korean about him and could find really nothing. He may very well be 100% legitimate but he could certainly be a little more transparent. Regenerating hearing is a huge deal. It is odd he doesn't have a bigger online presence.

I believe I asked that Korean NYC lawyer about the clinic's odd location, and he was one of the people who said that wasn't out of the ordinary.

I agree that the location is weird, but I don't know after hearing a few people say the clinic was not out of the ordinary.

shouldn't he be up in a university or a hospital? Regenerating hearing is a really neat trick and he should be making huge $$$$$.even at $4500 a pop.

Yeah... I'm afraid we'd have to ask a Korean about this. Though, having doctors in malls isn't that weird. I have an eye doctor at Costco... with a really attractive assistant that I think I want to see if she wants to go out-- I mean the eye doctor is really nice and helpful! Talked to me about my weird eye floaters. Has a beard I am jealous about.

I'm sorry I thought having some humor would be good right about now.

Also, there was an eye doctor that rented space at my physical therapist's building. To be honest, having a doctor in a mall may seem like a smart move. Crowds of people pass by. It's like having a billboard that you can walk into.

That's okay for your average doctor. But let's hypothetically say you're an ENT who developed a cure for hearing loss. Should you still be treating patients in a mall? You've cured hearing loss. Shouldn't you be head of some ENT department at a prestigious hospital? Or at least at a university setting overseeing clinical research of your amazing discovery?

I suppose we will be finding out what the deal is rather soon.

My ex co worker who currently resides just outside of Seoul did say clinics offering specialized treatment generally look like this. Commercial property and space in South Korea is limited apparently... more emphasis on Kia and American bases...

He's been doing this for two years, I think we already know what the deal is.

That said, I really hope he proves me wrong. I would love to be wrong and he's truly found a cure for hearing loss, goes through clinical trials, and mass markets a cure.

I don't like making assumptions like that without evidence. At the very least, if he was a fraud, it'd be fun to watch him burn by my hand. (That's honestly the other reason why I've been watching this lmao. I hate scammers. I wish there were harsher punishments for them.)

Id really like to see some testimonials. Good thing Ed was around so we didn't get piss injected in our ears!
There are several testimonials on Minbo's website. And it's not piss, its platelet rich plasma. We still dont know if it works or doesn't work because he hasn't had a third party publish anything. There has never been a peer reviewed study on this process. For all we know he could be a savant genius and in fact created a method to regenerate hearing.

My question is: if he is lying why hasnt the Korean ministry of food and drug safety come down on him? Surely if he had had one patient not be satisfied or even hurt, they would have called the authorities.

My other question is this: there are now emerging techniques, whether neurotropic factors, or progenitor cell activation therapies, that are on the horizon that may be a cure for us. Why are the "tinnitus associations" wasting their time promoting Levo and telling us they will be out Thanksgiving? Why arent they talking about potential emerging cures? Why havent they checked out Dr. Minbo? Why havent they denounced scammers like Toh?

One other thing I forgot to mention last night: does anybody find it strange that none of the audiograms are plotted? Rather they are all printed as single numbers to make them more impactful as an advert. And yet, he has still written the dates and candidate codes in pen? I would assume if he was making a format that's easier to read from the plotted charts that he'd just print the whole thing with the dates included.

These are just small details that I find odd but it doesn't prove they are fake.

You're right it's a total mystery. I'd be willing to chip in a few hundred dollars maybe more to support someone from the BTA to fly to Korea and take due diligence to get to the bottom of this. They could talk to Dr. Minbo, contact Stanford's Hellar lab, speak with Korean officials in the ministry of food and drug safety etc. I know it's all a "what if" but it is the mother of all "what ifs". You have street cred, why dont you set that up? If it turns out to be real, many of us will be free from this mental prison.

None of the people giving testimonies can be seen. All of their faces are blurred out so what's the point? Check out any testimonies on other medical sites and you will always see who they are; that's kind of the whole point to giving your permission to do one. If no one knows who you are, or can't even see you, then it totally nullifies it.

You are right that we don't know for sure but it doesn't look good. I can't think of a single positive piece of evidence in his favour.

If he was a savant genius then surely he wouldn't be so stupid as to not get his idea validated via various medical journals. He claims he has regenerated hearing and yet no one in the world has heard of him. That last sentence alone should be enough to seriously doubt his claims.

Well either way, someone needs to go investigate this not just to see if it works, but to see if it doesnt. Why do we have tinnitus associations if not to do this type of thing?

I know it's not piss haha. It was just a joke from earlier in the thread :)
Yeah I realize this.

Some times we need to take chances. If this Doctor is the real deal then that would be the end of the tinightmare for those of us that could make the trip. I believe a good starting point would be to contact the Korean Ministry of Food and Drug Safety and see if there have been any complaints about him. Then someone brave enough, like me, could go get the procedure done and then relate my experience. Intratympanic injections are actually a very common procedure for ENTs and I doubt my own platelets are going to hurt me. The thing that intrigues me is the presence of the various growth factors in PRP. It is not irrational to implicate them in healing of the cochlea.

Can someone explain to me what the hell is a "tinnitus treatment specialist" or "clinician specializing in tinnitus" (Dr, AUD, whatever)
THERE ARE NO TREATMENTS (beside CBT stuff and...yeah).
The only tinnitus specialists there are are researchers, like Susan Shore, Joseph Rauschecker, Charles Liberman and the like. They're experts cause they're going deep into what actually causes tinnitus.
There is no expertise to be had on the treatment aspect. Anyone claiming to be an "expert on treating tinnitus" is to me a huge red flag immediately and makes me want to throw up.
This is possibly to the dubious exception of some rtms-like stuff or whatever.
thank you for coming to my TED talk

I'm seriously considering spending about $7000 - $10,000 of my own money as well as risking my own flesh and blood to go find out if PRP full of various growth factors can treat tinnitus. I also have a young son that needs me. Just put this in perspective.
