Btw folks, the idea to raise more awareness via social media hasn't been abandoned, it's just been put on hold as the timing isn't right. Let's do something special later in the year and I hope to see as many of you on board as possible.
My mom's best friend recently got tinnitus and is really upset and unhappy about it. She has already done what most of us have, she saw her GP and she paid to see a private ENT because she didn't want to wait, and she got no benefit from either. I asked my mom for her number yesterday and then rang her because I know how isolating and lonely this condition can be when you believe that nobody understands what you're going through. She was almost in tears as I spoke to her because I guess it was a relief to finally talk to someone who understood what she was going through. I did my best to reassure her and that's all I could do.
If we all pull together we can raise awareness on a scale that simply hasn't been achieved yet, but this can only happen if every single person takes a form of action, and this includes all the lurkers. The time for just words has long gone. It's time to step up. Help all you can with Tinnitus Hub's current projects, and then when the timing is right, let's launch an all-out assault on social media.
