"500 word essay due in 2 weeks"
Hey man, I've been quietly lurking for a while now, reading lots of posts, learning as much as I can so I can possibly have some relief from my tinnitus (caused by rock concert) and this is a great site but I'm gonna say that I think YOUR an idiot!!! What are you? 10 years old? Posting all those ridiculous nemes and such - spewing all kinds of hateful and juvenile opinions. Most of the members I see here are helpful but there has to be at least one rotten apple.
You are polluting this helpful site and I am surprised that the moderator doesn't kick your dumb ass off. I've visited other tinnitus sites and they don't have idiots like you there. Why don't you just grow up and get a life.

MPP is a counter cultural movement
You and all others like you here who follow your example are cretins!
In Respons to @Contrast 's graphic:
Get a job.................Yes
Go to work...............Of course
Get married..............Oh yes
Have children...........Oh yes
Follow fashion..........Never
Act normal................Very occasionally
Walk on the pavement.....Most times
Watch TV....................Last resort only
Obey the law................Yes
Habituate.............Give it your best shot
Get use(d) to hearing loss......Accept it
Hair cell regeneration
100 years away................Hopefully not,
But determine to survive either way!
AND - - - - "YES I AM FREE - YIPPEE !!!"
Postscript:
By the way - your graphic is far more reminiscent of those unhappy grouchers, who would condemn
those seeking sound psychological remedies.
Hey guys I need help. There's this punk kid who thinks he can steal my girl. He's friends with my boy genius but he thinks I don;t notice him eyeing up my girl. How do I lay down the law fellas?

So much this but I would not touch a pair of headphones ever again after I get my ears fixed. I'll just stick to my surround sound speakers with volume at normal levels. No more blasting!!!when the frequency therapeutics thread will finally made it into the treatments section

Well I don't think a lobotomy is gonna help that. If it did help with crapbituation, I guarantee you that tinnitus researchers would be focusing on that like a laser lol.
...........think yourself lucky.......mfw i've been sitting in the thread for 5 minutes and neither threefirefour or jontrast has made a post

Completely agree 100%, open source software has been a gift to humanity that everyone takes for granted... if science worked like open source software we'd already have solutions for so many of our health conditions today.Hearing loss science and all science on regenerative medicine should be open source information instead of completely profit driven and corporate secrets
Imagine a scenario if Frequency Therapeutics has the better hearing loss drug but Gen Vec has a better method of transferring the drug through the cochlea. Both clinical trials end up failing because they both lack the option they need from another.
If research was openly shared with the mindset that benefitting humanity is the ultimate goal instead of profit, we'd probably have a safer bet on a cure for hearing loss.
Same principle that applies to the Linux Community and open source software

This is a loaded question. When I used that phrase or talk about habituation in general, I'm not pissed at people for trying to habituate, but it being "the only thing" for tinnitus, and the fact it's so crap. Is it the only thing that's recognized as a treatment by the medical community? So far yes but that's doesn't make it any less terrible. It's like how the only thing for paralysis is a wheelchair. Nobody in their right minds would consider that a good treatment.@threefirefour
Just been wondering TFF - if acceptance leads to crapbituration, where does unacceptance lead to?
Is it a better bet?
Should I give it a try......?
