@threefirefour the insipid:

Hey man, I've been quietly lurking for a while now, reading lots of posts, learning as much as I can so I can possibly have some relief from my tinnitus (caused by rock concert) and this is a great site but I'm gonna say that I think YOUR an idiot!!! What are you? 10 years old? Posting all those ridiculous nemes and such - spewing all kinds of hateful and juvenile opinions. Most of the members I see here are helpful but there has to be at least one rotten apple.

You are polluting this helpful site and I am surprised that the moderator doesn't kick your dumb ass off. I've visited other tinnitus sites and they don't have idiots like you there. Why don't you just grow up and get a life.

You and all others like you here who follow your example are cretins!

Threefirefour is the total opposite of being insipid, infact he is one of the strongest personalities of this website.

MPP is a counter cultural movement

In Respons to @Contrast 's graphic:

Get a job.................Yes
Go to work...............Of course
Get married..............Oh yes
Have children...........Oh yes
Follow fashion..........Never
Act normal................Very occasionally
Walk on the pavement.....Most times
Watch TV....................Last resort only
Obey the law................Yes
Habituate.............Give it your best shot
Get use(d) to hearing loss......Accept it
Hair cell regeneration
100 years away................Hopefully not,
But determine to survive either way!

AND - - - - "YES I AM FREE - YIPPEE !!!"

Postscript:
By the way - your graphic is far more reminiscent of those unhappy grouchers, who would condemn
those seeking sound psychological remedies.

That's all out of my league these days TFF.
All I can tell you is this.
I was in charge of a retail business with several employees, when a truly lovely lady called Sylvia came to work for me.
I fell in love with her the very first day.
I watched as several guys tried to win her over.
Some guys were fellow employees.
Some were very rich clients.
One was a commercial pilot.
I just bided my time, watched all these guys trying too hard, and let her fall in love with me.
It worked for me........but then, I'm a very nice guy, of course !!!
(Hahahahaha...........xx)

Hearing loss science and all science on regenerative medicine should be open source information instead of completely profit driven and corporate secrets

Imagine a scenario if Frequency Therapeutics has the better hearing loss drug but Gen Vec has a better method of transferring the drug through the cochlea. Both clinical trials end up failing because they both lack the option they need from another.

If research was openly shared with the mindset that benefitting humanity is the ultimate goal instead of profit, we'd probably have a safer bet on a cure for hearing loss.

Same principle that applies to the Linux Community and open source software

Whenever I accidentally start an argument.

This is the guy who has elevated self promotion to an art form.
Whereas the practice of 'patting one's self on the back' can be considered an aerobic activity
(if maintained for a period of no less than 20 minutes) it may cause repetitive strain injury.

Completely agree 100%, open source software has been a gift to humanity that everyone takes for granted... if science worked like open source software we'd already have solutions for so many of our health conditions today.

@threefirefour

Just been wondering TFF - if acceptance leads to crapbituration, where does unacceptance lead to?
Is it a better bet?
Should I give it a try......?
This is a loaded question. When I used that phrase or talk about habituation in general, I'm not pissed at people for trying to habituate, but it being "the only thing" for tinnitus, and the fact it's so crap. Is it the only thing that's recognized as a treatment by the medical community? So far yes but that's doesn't make it any less terrible. It's like how the only thing for paralysis is a wheelchair. Nobody in their right minds would consider that a good treatment.

Took the words right out of my mouth.

When one of the many audiologists offered me 1) hearing or 2) get used to it, I nearly vomited. It's like a Black Mirror kind of nightmare you can't escape from.

Nobody in their right minds would consider that a good treatment.

Can I ask you in all sincerity if you have found any treatment for your Tinnitus that has helped you in any way at all?

Mine is loud, permenant, unmaskable.
In four years, most of which were lived in considerable distress, I have suffered absolute hell on Earth.
I live in a most beautiful gated park.
I lived concurrently in both a heavenly place, and a hell of noise.

None of my ENTs, clinics, general practitioners, have ever offered or recommended anything at all.
I knew I was on my own with this thing.
I decided to try to accept this noise as the new norm.
Utilising hypnosis, meditation, and self hypnosis, I suggested to myself that "hiss is normal."
I often think that I have escaped the dungeon of despair, to inhabit a territory of toleration.

But I have to say to you, I no longer despair, break down, or fall to pieces.
Something is different.
I literally am coping pretty well.
How could one explain that, if acceptance/habituation amounts to nothing?

I would not want to go back to where and how I was before.
So, what has actually happened for me?
I am not even sure myself.
I genuinely would appreciate your opinion.
Dave.
