I remember back on r/tinnitus, one of the mods said a guy was like an anti-vaxxer because he was cure oriented like a normal person, and didn't agree with the whole habituation-based focus of r/tinnitus. Imagine having that much of a lack of self-reflection. Because considering that we know the science of tinnitus and tinnitus research, that's clearly not true. I remember earlier on MPP, Contrast got upset at me for wrongly using the word "Theory". Meanwhile everywhere else in the tinnitus community, even with the ATA and stuff, weird crap goes unchallenged.

We focus on science around here, but everywhere else in the tinnitus "world", there's tons of hippy bullshit, like focusing on anxiety or whatever the latest meme is. Nothing praticularly important about this rant, it just pisses me off when these people think we're the anti-scientific ones when the reality is the opposite.

1:"bent/twitching hair cells cause chronic tinnitus"
2:"pusatile tinnitus shares a connection to actual tinnitus"
3:" "liver damage causes tinnitus because Chinese medicine said so"
4: Acoustic trauma, and or balance problems and or hyperacusis but no hearing loss said ENT"

Here are the 4 most common errors I notice on this forum listed in no particular order
(4 is the most common)

oh god ENTs....such idiots...How did they finish school I dont know.

Hey what did the CBD do for your visual snow? I heard from other sufferers that CBD oil really helps reduce the static.
I dont know I just noticed it yesterday, only looking at this little tree in my house. I've been on the CBd longer than I've had visual snow so I dont know.

I went to the doctor today and told him I just started getting floaters. I told him that it seems related to tinnitus and he didnt understand how these things are connected. I dont either. How the f does tinnitis cause floaters. I feel like I'm fuckin dying.

Well tinnitus causes thamalogical dysrythmia. That is when there is a lot of activity in the thalamus that causes issues to other parts of the brain. That's why tinnitus usually comes with a cluster of symptoms like depersionalization, visual snow, and migraines.

The reason for floaters is because the visual thalamus is equipped with the ability to completely filter visual stimulus. That's why we don't see our blind spots. This also filters floaters, which are debris in the eye fluid. The static comes from the overactivity in the fusiform gyrus caused by signals from thalamus.

The real question is will getting rid of tinnitus help get rid of visual snow and floaters? VS is interesting in the fact it's actually very treatable for an "untreatable" disorder. There's no singal visual snow medicine, but there are a lot of things that help. Like CBD oil, Lactimal, the visual snow relief video, Xanax, Neurofeedback, Diamox, and Verapamil. For floaters you could get a virectomy, which gets rid of the debris themselves.
