Tinnitus Since
10/2014
Ok so in september of 2014 I went to the shooting range with my friend. when I came home i noticed a slight ringing in my left ear. I thought that it was because of the shooting (I wore earplugs) and went to bed. When I woke up the ringing was louder, and I became very frightened and panic struck me. After the fifth day I went into full blown panic mode, and I just sat in bed crying. I went to an ear specialist and got my hearing checked. Everything was fine, no hearing damage and I hear slightly above the norm. After a month of tinnitus I became Extremely depressed, I just stayed home and cried. this went on for 3 months and I decided to go to a Tinnitus Audio therapist, she helped med a lot to cope to the tinnitus. For me the best way to keep my mind off it at home was to always have background noise (fan or anything) and I became more used to my situation. It hurt so bad, but less than earlier. I was so depressed and My thoughts were all negative. After a while I realized that my T changed volume a lot, It became less loud when I was out drinking and louder the day after, yet I thought nothing of it. Now the story changes for real. I went to a clinic who specifies in Physiotherapy for treating tinnitus, and I signed up. A man came in and pushed on some spots on my neck and throat and I went home. after a day My T was much more quiet. so I decided to continue. AND IT HELPED A LOT. I also found a neck massage instrument, Called "Me time" (google it) and just out of curiosity i put it against my ear and made it vibrate my ear canal. The T went away completely for about 30 seconds then came back louder than ever. after 15 minutes I could only hear a fraction of what my T was before. And I have been doing this ever since. Both the neck and throat treatment, and the massager. (This is not some scam where I want you to buy the Massager)

Trust me, this really helped and my life has a brighter light upon it. I thought that i was cursed forever, but it seems I found light in the very dark tunnel I was in. And I am grateful. My T has been all quiet for 30 minutes now and boy this is going to be good.

Thanks for sharing.. i think everyone's T is somewhat different and their bodies react differently to sounds, treatments and medication.. but good to know.

What sort of doctor was he? I believe certain areas that encompass nerve endings throughout the body are key. Its quite possible for physical stimulation to offer relief for T/H.
There are some DO' that can do some amazing acu-preasure touch and massage. Its expensive. The length of relieve may not be long enough...

My T has declined significantly, may be just my type of T but it was quite loud the first months, but it is a fraction of what it used to be. He is a
Manual therapist

In many cases T passes or improves without any treatment .
The massager my opininion is no more effective than placebo.

If I can hear improvement don't say some bullshit placebo. You can't hear My T
If it works that is all that matters. t is a symptom with many different causes and it isn't one treatment fits all. I have had much relief from Physic and acupuncture as my t is partly due to tmj. Inflammation causes my t an several others that I know to spike so it would make sense that the things you mention would work for some people. Thank you for sharing.

It helps I think any white type noise to mask with helps I will mask for 8 hours straight .The days or rather midnight to 8 am I work 3rd shift helps a whole lot . Also netti pot, and just keeping my ears and sinuses clear seems to help. But sometimes it don't matter what you do T just goes crazy and you just have to learn to ignore it till it goes back down. But it can be managed and you can live a fairly normal life I believe so far that has been my case so far. 10 months into the T world.

I think too what works for one is ok to inform others. The problem with science is that they always want a direct correlation 1:1 and that rarely happens. So, the experts say this doesn't work, it's the mind taken over to tell us it is working, whatever that may be. Brains and individuals are so complicated. Good for Bob sharing.

I just got T. And it does seem related somehow to muscle tightness or blood pressure for me, so thanks for this discussion. I'm new to this problem. I'm going to massage my neck for a while today.
