My Tinnitus Is Cured! Here's What Worked in My Case

Congratulations @Conan156 on being free of it! I'll have to spend a bit of time reviewing and understanding those supplements and give it a try. However as someone else mentioned in this thread, it all depends on what was the cause in the first place. I've had mine for so many years, I doubt something like what you did would have an effect on my case; but who knows! Someone else suggested that they had better focus and energy for that day - so I'm good with that as well! lol

As well all struggle in very different ways and have our gloomy times, it's great to see some positive items like this!

Im on my third day now and the only thing that happend is that my T got louder. So i'm stopping this. Last week my T was so far in the background that i slept in silence with no masking like a baby. Yesterday i needed a bit of masking.

Of course i don't know if thats because of the NAC or something else, however that was the only thing i changed.

I'm quitting too. Back to curcumin.

Out T seem to be similar:D. I hope it goes back down to how it was last week.
I started acetyl l carnitine today, but my tinnitus was already spiked this morning before I got out of bed. I tried liquid zinc yesterday. I also tried gaba. So who knows.

Yeah my T is super spiked today. Wtf.

Oh man that sucks. Mine isn't super spiked, but enough to get me worried a lot. When i measure the needed masking db it doesn't look like a big difference, but when its quiet or when i plug my ears the T sounds really pissed off. More intense.

Dont know for sure but I'm having a bad spike today. Not exactly sure why either. Probably the worst spike I've ever had. I also didnt eat today so I have no idea.

@JohnAdams ,
I'm having a mega spike from hell for about a week but today I'm hoping it's starting to settle but I have an Idea what caused mine.

Stay strong and don't let it win the day..

My chiropractor prescribed phenibut and it really messed up my brain. Phenibut affects gaba. If I'd had any idea the damage it was going to cause me, I would have steered clear.

I think chiropractors are diabolical quacks. A chirofuckhead started me on my path to tinnitus.

I took NAC after a week after a cold as it has spiked my tinnitus took 1200mg per/day for a few weeks, can't say it helped at all unfortunately .

@JohnAdams - I read this older post. Can I ask what kind of treatment the chiropractor did that put you on the path to tinnitus?
Theres a little double pronged thermometer and it's used to allegedly detect nerve bundles which is actually bullshit, but anyway, he jammed it in my lower vertebrae so hard it pushed me off of the bench I foot sitting on and for two weeks my lower back was hurting badly and my nerves and muscles around that area were spamming, so I got on aspirin and probably took way too much while also playing guitar really loudly.

You

You'd have to wonder what the chiropractor was thinking by being so forceful

I have been taking over 1 gram of NAC (In the trial they used 2 grams of NAC, so for 1 month or so I took 1.8grams daily) since the very beginning. So... February ish is when my order arrived and I did my research? So 8 months now. Nothing. I also take Magnesium, Vitamin B12, B6, B3, B9, C and a few others daily. Krill Oil too as that's better than Omega 3, but I tried both. Also did Vitamin D and K for a time. 5-htp for sleep sometimes but recently that spikes my tinnitus more. Melatonin for sleep daily for a few months now. Sometimes Phenibut or Xanax, but rarely.

I tried Kratom. I can keep listing out all the supps I tried but nothing. Not even a volume reduction sadly.

I've taken NAC and the only thing I think it does for me is to help me recover quicker after a spike. Starting to think all supplements are a waste of time. My best results have come from amitryptylene but it leaves me feeling so exhausted it would be nice to find something else that helps.

I got tinnitus back in March 2018. It came on after I took a D-Aspartic Acid supplement one time. I had it in both ears and my head. Then eventually just my left ear. Horrible ringing I couldn't escape. I was like I couldn't go on with this. Went to ENT for cleaning , nothing. I just knew this was more of my brain being out of whack. So this is what worked.

10 days of NAC 600mg.
Days 1-3: 600mg at night before bed.
Days 4- 7 days: 600mg at night and also 600mg first thing in morning on empty stomach.
Days 4-7 in the afternoon: 500mg of Acetyl L Carnitine.

Now I have absolutely nothing! This may be the case specifically to me, as perhaps this cleared or repaired whatever damage was done with the DAA. But it worked so I figured I'd share as I know how sucky I felt with it.
Given this timeline, it's possible your tinnitus faded on its own, and the supplements in the meantime were only coincidence. With that said, NAC helped me initially, and it's been shown to work in the very acute stage for noise induced hearing damage. NAC boosts your liver's production of glutathione, which is a powerful antioxidant in your body, which seems to help combat the mechanism of oxidative stress which acutely causes noise induced hearing damage or tinnitus. Incidentally, coffee also boosts production of glutathione. Which is why both of these work very well for a hangover also.
