My Tinnitus Is Fading 4% Each Month

Hi again Joseph!
Wonderful to hear you are recovering :) But you do have spikes sometimes? If yes, how much on the 1-10 scale, and for how long?

I haven't dedicated myself to the diet fully yet, but I do try to eat very healthy. I just have to cut down on the carbs a bit.

I had an appointment with a doctor last week who's a specialist in the tinnitus area and she put me on 15mg of Remeron/Mirtazapin because she wanted me to sleep (to recover better) and to stop worrying so much. She said this drug is safe for tinnitus and that it's better for me to have some relaxation, than to go around having anxiety. The medication did take the edge of the noise, but yet of course it's still there all the time. Does this drug affect the nervous system? You said earlier in a post that drugs affecting the nervous system is bad. I don't want to be on this drug for long but right now it sure have felt good just being able to have some sleep.

And please continue with your story about your recovery. It's a big inspiration to know someone is doing better!

Hi Patrick!

Yes, I still have a spike in my left ear (6/10). It occurs once a week for like 4 hours. I beleive it is a build up in stress chemicals and tension in the nerves and muscles.

Thats why it is crucial to implement stress management techiques to delay or stop spikes.

spikes will subside in a year or 2 for most people. Depends on how well you recover.

As for the diet, yes go low carbs. You will be in slight ketosis especially if u exercise. So u will still get benefits.

your doctor is absolutely right. If you cant sleep at least 6 hours at night with masking, no need for drugs.

if not take the drugs until you can sleep without them with masking.

I took xanax for one month in my second month with T and then removed them in the 3rd month.

plus it seems you are a smart dude. From the questions you ask. So keep doing what u are doing. Things will improve with time as your body always try to return to homeostasis (fix itself).

Again thanks for your tips Joseph! I will try to be more at one with nature.
And I will continue to follow your story here and also post any news that I might have.
Have a good day now :)

Another experiment I am doing is upping my caffeine intake and see how it affects T. Nomally if your T don't increase with caffeine in system that means they dont get overexcited anymore in a sense that they rebuilt their breaks which indicate they you hit a new milestone in recovery.

In 2 months I will enter what so called intermittent T where you experience periods of silence.

Spikes will be pushed back to 2 a months instead of 4.

To beat T you need to be in control or else T will control you as it feeds from negative thoughts and unoptimal body function.

What you remain indebted to tell us is how you got so wise.
Best medicine is nature.

Those observations/ tips are gold.

I didn't have a chance to look at articles about how ketones promote Gaba production, but I suppose this is true too. Great find (!!!!!!)

I told you many posts ago that I plan to follow you in your footsteps. If you care to know, your approach is for me my latest hope for recovery.
Congratulations again!

Nutrition modification:

Eating only one big meal at night and fasting through the rest of the day.

This will put your body into repair mode.

Educate and dominate T.

I hope you guys have started implementing these principles as I am a witness of their effectiveness.

Eating only one big meal at night and fasting through the rest of the day.

This will put your body into repair mode.

I also read about a theory like that, saying that the body is able to heal itself from almost anything, if it is not obstructed to. By giving it food to process all the time we keep the body busy with this task and the body doesn't have time to see about other things, like parts of it that need attention for repairing.
Fasting is necessary to give the body time to do also other things besides digesting and metabolizing.

Not sure if I'd agree with that... The whole body doesn't digest food.. The digestive system does this independently of what the rest of the body is doing.

Fasting for 12-72 hrs -will- put you into ketosis though.

Yes, fasting will put you faster into nutritional ketosis but the body needs time to upregulate certain enzymes and transporters related to fat metabolism.

for instance, the transporter responsible to transport ketones to the brain through the blood brain barrier needs 4 weeks to be upregulated.

so the more you are on keto the more u will get benefits from it.

T UPDATE:

hissing is fading. Still some humming in both ears that are hard to detect while watching TV.

Now the feeling is more like oh something is wrong, cant hear T anymore lol!

Next month plan:

Remove masking device at night.

Very true dana.

Hi Deb,

I had previously multiple sounds in both ears including buzzing, ringing, hissing, humming.

But with time the nb of sounds will be reduced and what you left hearing humming and buzzing.

mine was caused by noise trauma and muscle spasms. I have slight hearing loss in left ear.

Dont have H.

as for someone with hearing loss, it depends on the intensity of your T. It ranges between 1 and 2 years if you were able to recover well.

Its been a whole week since I started this ketone diet attempt. A week of no sugar, no wheat, and very little carbs (a bit of potato and such). I've also upped my intake of fat in the form of high fat yogurt, sour cream and whipped cream, coconut oil, and avocados. I miss sugar, kinda, and would love to dive into an apple pie, and I might just cheat once a month lol, but thus far it hasn't been bad eating this way.
I did some exercising the other day and I'm hurting.

I'm thinking of starting to post some pictures of food we're eating while on the ketone diet. Perhaps in a new 'ketone diet dishes' food thread so that others have an idea of what to make/eat?

Here's a snack. Berries and whipped cream. I added some cinnamon after.
