There's a good chance I have a stomach ulcer, and the doctor prescribed some Omeprazole (Priolsec, Zegerid) to take one a day for a month.

After the first few days my tinnitus increased, so I stopped taking them.

I read that PPIs are pretty notorious for being ototoxic and often give a lot of people Tinnitus.

I'm in uncomfortable situation where I can't ignore this potential stomach ulcer that could be fixed with PPIs but risk making my Tinnitus worse than it already is.

My doctor said everyone reacts differently to these drugs so it could be a matter of finding the right one.

Has anyone had negative/positive experience with any of the following PPIs:

I'm in a bit of a pickle here...

I will say this much, I am not for taking meds and I actually despise them. If your condition can get worst and harm you, then try to figure out how you can get rid of it. If it is by taking meds or taking vitamin/herbs (whatever) that works. I am not throwing any advice around, I am just saying that you should... take care of your ulcer. You make your own choices, but try to address this issue.

I had a bronchitis or something that was just getting worst. The dr gave me a med that I was very nervous about. I took it because it saved my life. Tinnitus is a horrible ordeal, but for me....my life is more important than, the screaming tea kettle from hell that never shuts up. We are all different, but I am just sharing my own experiences.

I had a similar experience as you- supposed ulcer with no scope. Honestly I was never a fan of the PPI the doc gave me (Omeprazole), it made me feel worse. I drank a good amount to mess up my digestive system and ended up getting of C. diff from taking antibiotics. The T came before that ordeal. Google C. diff if you want more info...not very common for healthy adults. I'd get tested for H. pylori first to be sure, which is more common (it's an easier antibody or breath test). Are you sure it is your stomach? Mine ended up from what I think is in my colon (although still no scope of any kind) even though the pain was in close proximity.

Ultimately what helped me the most was changing my diet- avoiding coffee, alcohol, eating more greens, and tons of probiotics (yogurt, kombucha, and also a supplement). Take it for what it's worth, but I'd try and steer clear of the PPI and treat it without meds if you can. Mine wasn't that painful and I could still eat fine without losing weight, though.

I am taking Vonoprazan (Takecab) This is the new generation of PPI not ototoxic.
No side effects whatsoever

@Bobby B Do you have some source/info on this? My ENT thinks on top of many issues my acid reflux is causing issues into the nose/ear.

I do not want to take Prilosec which she gave me though. Where did you hear Takecab was not ototoxic?
