New Here :) Friends Clapping Their Hands Next to My Ear Has Made My Tinnitus Worse

Hey from Australia! So I've had tinnitus for six months now continuously and it doesn't actually bother me, I feel weird if it's drowned out actually!

It started from a concert I think but I haven't been able to get it checked out yet. What's way more frustrating is that I think my hearing is getting worse.

Anyway I have a question! I have had friends clap super loud as a joke recently next to my ear and each time it has made the tinnitus worse and way louder :/

I'm going to ask my doctor soon since my hearing has been getting worse and the tinnitus louder on its own but I'm curious if anyone else has had this or knows what it is?

I can't believe I forgot to mention but the clapping makes it worse temporarily! It goes back to my normal level after a few minutes. That's my question if that's something people experience something similar? Sorry for not reading it over properly to finish the question lol!

Loud hand clapping can reach 130 db's!

This kind of noise exposure, particularly early in T from loud noise exposure can definitely cause a spike in your T.

Sounds like you may need a new friend.

Thank you for answering the question. I'm going to have to make sure to keep safe from this type of noise more! And don't worry about my friends lol my friend did it once and then I told her to stop and the other time was an accident I was at fault for, to keep things short! Thanks guys

Yes, you need to stay away from the hand claps, and all kinds of other noise exposures. May need to wear earplugs when with your friends as need to avoid further damage, and give your ears a chance to heal.
