Hi!
Have had high-pitched ringing in left ear for three weeks but no pain.

Sometimes it feels like it's my right ear too.

Started after I moved my head from tilted to upright position whilst sitting.

A sudden and quite loud high-pitched ringing for about 10 seconds before fading to a lower volume where it remains.

It happened again today, only differences being my head was in upright position plus I already had the ear ringing.

Is it perception there are two different volumes? i.e. the first 10 seconds and the ongoing volume level

I have read Tinnitus can cause hearing loss and also be a symptom of hearing loss.

I'm hoping for the former since there's a chance it won't cause hearing loss.

FWIW, Doc examined both ears and didn't detect any problems.

He prescribed me Pregabalin for two weeks but I haven't taken them because I think that's a slippery slope.

I already take Gabapentin for back pain/sciatica caused by hernias.

Anyway, I'm just trying to find some sort of clarity and also what I might expect in the future, short and long.

tinnitus does not cause hearing loss, it is a symptom of hearing loss.

tinnitus is probably a result of hearing loss, nerve damage, not vice versa. hang tight, science is really catching up. we'll be cured, I really believe that.

Hi @Zebulon! If your tinnitus changes when you're moving your head, I do believe that it's possibly related to your neck? Perhaps this is something that could be worth looking into and see if it can help you with your tinnitus. Good luck!

Thanks all. Since last Sunday, I have had constant head pressure/fullness. It's not a headache because I feel no aches or pains. It feels like my head is squashed and not too dissimilar to a hangover. I went to an ENT specialist on Tuesday who couldn't detect any problems and said if the symptoms persist for another week, then see an Audiologist. My guess is the head symptoms are a result of the ear-ringing. Has anyone else experienced these head(ache?) symptoms in conjunction with ear-ringing? Thanking you in anticipation!
