(New) Static Noise in Head

Definitely! I think it has improved, and I've mostly habituated to the improved version of it. It's easier to habituate because it's a consistent tone, unlike my original tinnitus which is sort of a fluctuating sound, if that makes sense.
What do you think allowed it to improve @nocticolor? Did time improve it or do you think a specific treatment or supplement helped? Glad to hear it's better :)

How are you going Jerad?
Hey, @DebInAustralia, thanks for asking. I have better days and bad days. No day is a cup of tea, though. All days are pretty rough as of late. I have an electrical, pulsating hiss that sounds like a live wire and has "sparks" in it, too. What drives me crazy, though, is that it's not just a sound—it's a feeling, too. It literally feels like electricity and causes sensations of pain.

The hissing often has a feeling of a current running through my ears and the sparks feel like zaps. Just imagining it, it's like being hooked-up to an electroshock device.

The static I have is like an idling jet engine and isn't bad. If these were just sounds, I think I'd be in a much, much better place right now. Perhaps I'd be at peace with them even. But what kills me is the painful sensations.

On better days, habituation seems plausible because I find that I can go periods of time where I can block it out if I'm immersed into something. But most days, it's too aggressive and the painful aspects are overwhelming.

Not sure what the solution is to this type of tinnitus. I know you're thinking about LDN. I'm also supposed to trial hearing aids soon.

I've also thought about trying to get Flupirtine for a short course since I'm in the acute window kind of. I'm 3 months in. Not sure if you've looked at Flupirtine before. It's not the most ideal drug because you have to be careful of the side effects. Monitoring the liver regularly is important. But it might be worth the risk because for us severe sufferers, the quality of our lives is literally hanging in the balance. Desperate actions may be necessary. I think Flupirtine is overall safe if you get bloodwork done regularly to monitor everything.

My hissing is not maskable. It seems like it's very high frequency and perhaps that's why it hurts, too... because it's got a piercing quality to it.

How are you doing?

@just1morething, hello! Did you have the nerve block treatment, please? Did it help with the static cricket head noise?

Can the nerve block treatment work when your tensor and stapedius muscles were the ones directly affected and the problem didn't start from the neck, TMJ problems? Do you have the email address of the clinic where you were going so I could ask?

Thank you so much!

I've taken a bunch of different supplements over the course of time, but I've never noticed any improvement, so I definitely think time was the most important factor!

Do you know what caused it?
No idea honestly. For my original tone I had a really bad flu beforehand and my nose and ears were very clogged and I always thought it might've had something to do with that, but the static noise pretty much came out of nowhere!
