Newbie in Tinnitus

I guess they sent me a wrong referral cause a ent doesn't treat tmj so now I gotta wait for another referral to Goto a oral and maxillofacial surgery whatever that is but I guess they have speciality of dentistry there and specialist surgeons there so I hope I get the right treatment

I do believe it is a good idea to see an ENT as well though.. Just to rule out anything regaring your ears.. Like infections, perforated eardrum etc etc.. :)

Yeah, I hope so too! :) TMJD could be something to have a look into indeed.. Especially if you are aware of a teeth grinding problem :)

I was in marana health care and she looked in my ears and said everything looked fine and since the tinnitus came out of no where someone told me don't worry it's 100% your tmj I don't see any other underlining cause except that

Starting to get upset again and scared now my right ear is ringing for no damn reason so now I have noise coming from my left ear And right ear and it's driving me crazy even tho my tmj clicks only on the left side but still get pain on my right side just no clicking I'm really hoping once I get splints or something to treat my tmj both my ears with stop ringing this really sucks cause I don't even listen to loud music or loud stuff and now my right ear is ringing for no reason I just don't get it

Can you control your inner ear muscle? Like if you take a deep inhalation or exhalation and than close your eyes and you should feel like inside your ears some strong squeezing action going?

I think I feel it going to a tmj specialist next Tuesday hopefully when they fix my tmj my tinnitus will go away I wouldn't know why if it doesn't I got tinnitus out of nowhere don't listen to headphones or loud music and I have tmj so I would thnk it's from my jaw

At least you know whats causing yours and really good chance of it goin away once the tmj gets fixed.

I hope so my right ear rings for alittle while but then it stops I can make my left ear stop ringing when I relax my jaw so I'm thinking the jaw bone is pushing against my ear nerves witch causes tinnitus

Do those people get tinnitus out of no where and have tmj? Most of everyone I know have tinnitus from noise induced I'm not one of them so it all leads to my jaw

Yeah, hopefully it will all resolve once the jaw problem is taken care of :)
Ive read quite a few stories of people that got rid of their tinnitus by using a night guard as well :)

Update about my tinnitus went to a oral surgeon place today the dentist told me since I had 2 teeth missing and it lead to misaligned bite and he told me I had 2 impacted wisdom teeth and a root that was still in my gum causing inflammation on left side and is leading to inflammation in my TM joint and that's why he thinks my ear is ringing I hope he is right what do u guys think and I have to wait 3-4 weeks should I Goto my gp to get on some antibiotics? Cause that's long wait

I found some good news on the internet this is what I found
It is reported that tooth abscesses or impacted wisdom teeth can cause tinnitus. (5) In such cases further dental work may cure

the condition. Other times the tinnitus will gradually fade over time. One way this can occur is by aggravation of existing Tempero-Mandibular Joint (TMJ) dysfunction. Infection in the tooth or impacted wisdom teeth can cause inflammation that affects the TM joint.

It's exacly like the orthodontist dentist told me my wisdom teeth is causing inflammation on the tm joint and causing the tinnitus I hope I found my problem and can cure my tinnitus I feel happy now :)

@Eric Fridley

I'm a little curious if u have these clicking in the ear(s) as well? My T is also mostly in my left ear, but can go to the middle of my head and sometimes (rare) to my right ear.

I might have some TMJ disorder as well, cause i've had this bad tooth for very long and because of that i've only chewed with my left side (where my T mostly is) for a very long time.

Could any see this as a TMJ issue? i've also had some pain in the left side of my neck, but i don't have it currently..

EDIT: it's funny you mention wisdom tooths as well, i've just started to get mine over the last year, with no real pain tho... but as mentioned, i have this bad tooth in my right side as well, so it might be same problem as you?

Still waiting to get my wisdom teeth pulled I really hope my tinnitus goes away after this cause been having some suicidal thoughts and it ruined my life cause I can't even smoke bud Anymore without the tinnitus getting loud as hell so I miss all those good old time and I just want my life back this sucks badly

Since they are recruiting people for the am101 trial I emailed them and they emailed me back saying they won't accept me because my tinnitus came out of nowhere and is uknown so I guess us people that have good hearing and everything we prob won't be able to cure ours like the people that had trauma :( it really sucks

Many people in here won't agree with that. Aut00063 will might do this job, the AM-101 will probably only target acute T. but that doesn't mean it won't help.. I'm not much into this stuff, but you could read in the am-101 thread and Retigabine thread

Hopefully as they study the will find a treatment or cure for all causes of tinnitus.
It is important that they are doing research. At least there is hope.

The only reason acute T is being treated for trials is bc there is an evident known and recent cause. For a study you run the risk of gambling with chronic T bc there are many additional unknown factors since T started and possibly now contributing to.

That might be true, yes. what is your point? that going into a trial should be considered twice or?

Ok got 4 teeth pulled left top wisdom tooth and bottom left and got the infected dead tooth out and he said there is a hole in my bone he said that we'll heal and got right top wisdom tooth pulled but still have some ringing in the left ear I'm guessing it takes awhile for the tinnitus to go away? Hoping it will

So has your T changed or is it the same? i hope you will recover, but not all with TMJ induced T. will recover 100%, as far as i know.. Good luck friend

Kinda u mean even if u find the under line cause u will still have to live with T that's so fucking lame if I do I prob end up killing myself cause i don't wanna wait 10+ years for a stupid cure

Don't take my word for granted. but if you read the internet some see there will go away, and some wont..

Take it easy friend, ending your life is not a answer to this stupid sound we got. My life has changed as well, but for every day that passes by i start to accept my condition and i really really hope and are sure we will see some cure some day!
