NHL Hockey

@Telis ...We're pretty damn upset about it. Dougie's the second goal-scoring defenseman we have traded away in the recent past. Johnny Boychuk was the other. For future draft picks that may not work out?

Well, I'm really glad that he's going to a young upcoming team like the Flames. I would have been significantly more pissed if he went to the Habs.

Yeah, I agree, he's going to fit in real well with the Flames. He's young. So, he's going to continue to improve. Here's part of an article about what he'll add to your team:

"The Flames will add him to a defense that already has one of the best top pairings in the NHL in Mark Giordano and T.J. Brodie. Add Hamilton to that mix, who is only 22 and already a rising star in the league, and they have what should be one of the best trios in the NHL on the blue line to go with a young crop of forwads led by Johnny Gaudreau, Sean Monahan, and Sam Bennett."

I think the Flames are going to kick some serious ass next season...(y)
Yeah I think you guys got the short end of the stick on that deal, didn't want to say it. Haha. But I guess you never know, maybe they make some good picks down the line.

I haven't seen Hamilton play a lot as I don't watch many eastern games but i know he has a reputation as one of the best young D man in the game.

The flames made their run into the second round of the playoffs and the later half of the season without Giordano (injured) and testing a young Bennett in the playoffs. Gio healthy and Bennett with some experience next year along with the addition of Hamilton, watch out!

Guys like monahan and gaudreau are the real deal, amazing offensive tallent. Gaudreau is absolutely stunning to watch (will only get better) a absolute wizard out there. Both these guys will be superstars in the league for many years.

Can't wait to see this all this Play out. Calgary still has cap space and is still shopping, maybe they add a couple other pieces to the puzzle and they are a legit cup contender in the next couple of years.

Looks like your Bruins may have a few tough years ahead. Lucic gone too!

@Telis ...I'm hoping that the proposed rule change for overtime will get final approval. Three on three instead of four on four will create a lot of open ice and should be even more exciting to watch.

@marqualler, Towns looks interesting to say the least, some options besides Pekovic now. I am already looking forward to the new season.
Definitely excited for Towns. A Wiggins/Towns/Rubio core with LaVine/Shabazz/Dieng as bench and/or starters guys long-term is a super exciting core.

Hey, new here and to T, but I'm a habs fan. Carey Price is the man! I am also a goalie in an adult league, but hopefully the T doesn't affect my play this upcoming season.

@Telis ...I'm not at all happy that the Bruins have signed Zac Rinaldo. Last season he had only one goal and six assists in 58 games. But what disturbs me most is the 102 penalty minutes. I think he'll be more of a liability than an asset. I hope I'm wrong.

Hey Jim. This looks like another bad trade. Third round pick for a nobody like this guy, yikes. This guy seems to be a bit of a bum. Dirty fourth liner that isn't really effective even as a grinder.

Sounds like the Bruins gave away something for nothing on this deal, terrible.

Who knows though, maybe he will fit in and make an effective pest out there without sitting in the box all night. Could happen I guess.

I haven't been a hockey fan since the French Connection played for the Buffalo Sabres in the 70's (I lived in Buffalo for 7 long years). I think it was Gilbert Perrault at center and Rick Martin and Rene Robert at left and right wing...I think this is the time that Guy Lafleur was playing for the Canadiens--very exciting time in the sport. Then I moved to Texas and they were not involved in the sport at the time...the Dallas Stars came much later....See how old I am? :)

Not a day over 39! Say's this Detroit Red Wings fan...

Vancouver Canucks, and so sorry for bumping an old old thread. I was looking for tinnitus and ice hockey. I dont want to give up ice hockey but if it makes my tinnitus worse.. i will. sigh

Hey man, you don't have to give up hockey! I thought I would too but it's been good so far, just got another W tonight actually. I wear surefire earplugs, they are made to stay in place and they have minimal occlusion effect.

I can't get NHL hockey coverage in the UK easily, but my favourite team is Pittsburgh Penguins. I also like Ottawa Senators, Minnesota Wild, Montreal Canadiens and Winnipeg Jets.

Theres a good chance that will happen, they've been strong that past several years. But I'm hoping my habs can pull it off!
If the Habs make the finals I too would like to see them win The Cup too. They made it to the second round last year, one step from the finals. I am a Red Wings fan, but also a realist I don't see them getting past the 1st round again this year. Everyone in the Detroit area talks about their 24 consecutive playoff appearance being a record for any pro team, big deal no one remembers who makes it to the first round. I wish they could, but our core player are getting old and the younger guy have a ways to go.

I would add the Dallas Stars out of the Western conference teams that are contenders to make it to the SC playoffs. They shut out the Blackhawks the other night, 4 - 0. They are for real...

Yeah, I forgot about them. Since the Red Wings moved to the East I have not followed the West like I used to. RW are in first place in the Atlantic div. Hab lost like 9 or 10 games in a row with Cary Price out, so who knows. Being realistic though, RW will be lucky to make it to the 2nd round. They make a big deal here of the RW have never missed the PO's in 24 years, but that stat is meaningless to me, it tells me they just good enough to in and that's it.

Ummm...you guys have a couple of cups in those 24 years as well, not too shabby!! Not missing the playoffs for 24 years is insane! So every year you have a chance, and every regular season is meaningful for 24 years straight!! That sounds like a treat to watch year after year. Try watching you team a third of the way through the regular season to realize there is no chance in hell to even make the playoffs. Yeah watching meaningless games all season sucks, especially when it's for YEARS on end. I don't think you Detroit fans know how good you have it!!

Telis I never looked at it that way, after reading you're post I must say you have swayed my way of thinking. I guess I got spoiled with the four cups. A 24 year PO run is quite a feat.

Hey Gary, I guess I have perspective being a flames fan. Haha

Red Wings are finally back I think. Sad loss to the Kings 5-4 yesterday though, but we still get a point so I guess that's ok. That overtime goal they scored was so brutal to watch...
