Anyone know of any supplements that antagonize or cause permanent damage/down regulation of NMDA receptors? They appear to play a role in the development of tinnitus given their excitotoxic nature. They also help regulate brain plasticity, thus they could possibly be responsible for the solely negative changes that occurs in tinnitus sufferers.
What kinds of drugs or supplement antagonize these receptors to a high degree? I don't have access to ketamine. DXM works but it's often paired with acetaminophen which is hepatotoxic at high doses. I've heard Magnesium is antagonistic to these receptors but I take that everyday as part of my Adderall dosing and feel no noticeable effect on the ringing.
What else is there? Since they play a crucial role in memory and learning I can't kill them, but my goal is to down regulate them so much the brain is forced to allow lost functions to remain lost and uncorrected.
