Hello there,
I have Meniere's disease in my right ear. I have constant "normal" tinnitus and I am deaf on that side. I have been having a pulsatile tinnitus for about 5-6 years...and it got worse over time. It's still manageable but I am really anxious about it. Sometimes, it becomes loud in seconds and goes back down...I try to push my veins around and nothing seems to stop it from doing woushh woushh.
I used to have high triglycerides and cholesterol, but I lost a lot of weight and everything is in range. I do suffer from hypothyroidism and take synthroid. I also take vyvanse for my adhd since I have been diagnosed 2 years ago. Vyvanse is amphetamine based and could cause higher blood pressure. I also suffer from anxiety (comorbidity) of my adhd.
I am really afraid that Meniere will come and kill my left ear and I will be deaf. Also, I am going to holidays in about 3-4 weeks and I am afraid the plane will make my tinnitus (especially the pulsatile one) worse. I thought of buying noise-cancellation headphones? What do you suggest? any good idea? Should I buy pressure ear plugs?
What follow up should I do with my doctor? I have been lacking, because I am afraid to go get a hearing test again and be told that my left ear has lost audition. I'm only 33 years old. Anyways, if it comes to this, will I be able to live a normal life with a cochlear implant?
Thank you all for your help. It feels somehow good to be able to share this to people who suffer the same.
Good night.
