Hey folks.

Well I just joined as I blew both my ears out on a very loud Norton Motorcycle race [which I actually won!] on 28th July, 2021.

I have had seriously chronic ringing in my brain since I got off that bike, constant now, no change, no let up for almost 4 months. A couple of audiologists confirmed diagnosis.

I guess I'm in the tinnitus club with you lot and it's very very tough going.

Just looking to connect to get a understanding and hopefully hear positive ways to recovery stories.

Cheers,
Ade

28 July will put you at a little under 3 months in. The first few months are generally considered the most difficult. Ears unfortunately do take a very long time to settle, sometimes up to a couple of years. Many people will see their volume reduce with time even if it doesn't completely go away. I hope you get some relief soon.

Today is my 3 month anniversary of the ride that blew my ears, I have only been to my regular doctor who just gave me referrals to audiologist and ENT, I didn't know which to see first and ended up at audiologist.

Not seen an ENT yet and don't know where to start in the USA health care system?

Can anybody explain the time frame of early treatments etc?

Thanks a lot.

The time frame for Prednisone is generally considered as effective within the first 48 hours. Unfortunately few people, including GPs, know or care to mention this. I also missed the 48 hour window.

There are many tests your ENT perform and it's up to you how you'd like to approach that. For most people time should give some relief in symptoms. You may also want to try some Magnesium and potentially NAC supplements.
