Officially Diagnosed with TMJ

T and H are fading away. If didnt have TMJ and ETD right now i would be out of this forum.
Hey that's great. Me too. I now can sleep in 90% silence because it almost completely goes away whenever I lay down in silence. My tinnitus became reactive to noise though recently so I have to find a way to fix this.

Does TMJ get better over time?

I wish you the best, I know someone who had tmj and they are doing great, but she did not have T. I know it took awhile. I think you have to think of it as two separate illness if you work on Tmj at least then your jaw would be well and if T goes down that would be great. It's a process.

Do you have clicking sound when you open and close your jaw. I have it on both sides.

I just have clicking on both sides, nothing if i move left or right. I fell so many times on my head when i was little kid with my scooter lol. I wonder if all that accumulated with the teeth grinding and of course when i got punched by this bully when i was in elementary school.

I was in Karate so that probably didn't help.

I had clicking on left side of jaw and when i would chew i would hear it. I wonder if this is tied into to why i have T on my left ear with of course the noise.

Most likely is. Get that fixed and the tinnitus will most likely reduce/go away. Even if you have noise trauma tinnitus then the TMJ probably is making that tinnitus worse.

probably, but the T and H in the left ear are fading away. I believe those are caused by TMJ And noise induced. It has gotten so much better. If i didnt have TMJ or ETD I would have left this forum and habituated. This is the only thing preventing me.

So what are the treatments for this. I noticed my neck cracks.
It's all related. Your neck most likely tried to align itself with your jaw. My neck leans to the left to compensate. This also causes tinnitus issues, by stressing your SCM. This is why my right ear is much louder, and gets very quiet/goes away whenever I lay down.

i have MRI on Monday, lets see what it reveals.

TMJ can be treated with a mouth guard.

Depends on the cause. If it's bruxism then sure. Maybe even jaw alignment, but sometimes it might need a brace. hope I just need a mouth guard. Mine wont come cheap though,

how does a brace look like?

Like a mouth guard but with straps on the side.

if I can cure TMJ i can probably cure T. You know what is interesting that back in March/April before i got T. i would hear clicking on my left side of jaw.

Yeah same. My jaw started doing a thing where it sounds like it's "opening" like a fridge door. It's hard to explain.

They just told me they had the mold from Dec. 2014 and needed that to make the repair. They send it somewhere to be fixed. I have no idea how they fuse the plastic back together. I'm trying to get a new one made so I have a spare but it sounds like they are $2800(new insurance may not cover it) Yeah they will make new impressions for the new one. My old insurance was much better as they paid for appliance.

2800 bucks? For a normal bite splint it's about 150 euro in jaw analysis at the surgeon and 240 euro lab costs to produce the mold. And maybe some other costs for the oral hygienist who makes the mold with that pink paste that she puts in your mouth that slowly hardens. So total it's about 450 euro I think, fully covered by Dutch Insurance. 2800 sounds enormous, since it's only a piece of plastic and some labour costs.

Yeah, I agree. The one in 2014 costs $1500 from what I remember and was covered by insurance. They quoted me $2800 the other day over the phone. It does seem awfully high but dental and CPAP is high here too. I may just keep my repaired one if new one isn't covered by insurance. My loud hissing is driving me crazy right now...may have to try a AD as much as I don't want to. I'm having trouble getting meds lately. Sometimes it takes a AD to break the cycle in your brain. It still could be my neck but I need relief now. I have WNG's but they sound like my noise.
