That sounds incredible! I've gotta fly to the States soon anyway, so maybe I'll try hit up some places. There are a lot of abandoned malls to explore in the US also.
Btw - off topic, but why did they give you Doxycycline?

Is that where the lobotomies were done years ago? Here is a photo of me, taken in the dark, at an abandoned university - looking really happy that I've found 'room 101
There is an abandoned Wizard of Oz theme park a few hours from me. If I ever get better, I plan to head out to it.Ha! That's amazing! I have such a dream of going over to the US and exploring abandoned theme parks - you seem to have quite a lot.
I've been over to Canada and done some of the old mining towns. Though there's not much to see.
Europe is the ideal place to do it. See some awesome things there: abandoned mental hospitals, towns, manor houses, railway stations, hotels. Yeah Europe is great.
England is pretty rubbish. It was much better 10 years ago, when the recession hit, because lots of redevelopment stopped and places were saved from the bulldozer. But now the economy is going again, literally everywhere has even been made into houses, or pulled down... Boo
Do you know what - I've never actually encountered dogs before, but I have many mates who have. Scares the life out of me just thinking about being chased by dogs, and I love dogs haha.
Whereabouts are you living these days? You should definitely try exploring again. Keeps ya young at heart
Really bad skin infection on my eyelid.Btw - off topic, but why did they give you Doxycycline?
Vermont, and, thanks, but, it is a bit depressing: I am teaching our child to ski this year, and at the same time fairly certain commercial skiing will cease to exist here within her lifetime. Along with all the other chaos that will come from mass death and diaspora as particular heavily-populated regions become uninhabitable, globally.Where do you live that you still have winters like that? All we had was a bit of powdered sugar here and there for the last couple of years, so looking at your picture makes me feel a little jealous and nostalgic
Enjoy the slopes!
I was on Doxycycline for my eyes too! Mine was ocular rosacea and dry eye.Really bad skin infection on my eyelid.
I also have dry eye, well Meibomian Gland Dysfunction. I've taken A LOT of Azithromycin for it throughout my life. As for the Doxycycline, I'm supposed to be taking 100mg twice a day for 5 days, but I only followed those instructions once. I've been basically taking 1 tablet a day. Yesterday I didn't take any, but my eye is looking a little puffy again today so I guess my body needs the help...I was on Doxycycline for my eyes too! Mine was ocular rosacea and dry eye.
Trust, it was the Doxycycline that gave me the tinnitus.
Bet you're on a low dose as well - 50mg?
You a photographer? GH5 is a nice camera.Pre-hyperacusis, back when I could still cut my hair. It's a bit longer these days.
Ah, thanks! Videographer/filmmaker actually, although I trained and previously worked in a different field entirely. I do some photography on the side though as a hobby. You?You a photographer? GH5 is a nice camera.
These are really powerful words!!I've been looking through these photos and my heart absolutely breaks for everyone affected by this horrid condition. It really does make you realise that the people on this forum are humans whose lives have been touched/altered/devastated by this evil affliction.
How did I miss this post! There is an abandoned Wizard of Oz theme park a few hours from me. If I ever get better, I plan to head out to it.
This is making me SO jealous! We used to have a lot abandoned psych wards, but sadly, most have now been torn down.where I'm from (New England) we had a lot of abandoned spots. Like psych wards with bad histories, that sort of thing.
Urgh! Tell me about it. Occasionally I've hit the exploring jackpot, and found places that haven't yet been touched, but they're few and far between. Best one ever, was an abandoned mansion right where I live. I'd been playing in the grounds, and the pleasure gardens since I was little, but never managed to get into the main house. However, one day I did!It sucks though when enough people go there and do bad things that it gives more incentive for them to knock places down. Ruins it for people just wanting to explore.
And why haven't you shared any photos with us of this shoot?? I wanna see!I did a horror photo shoot at a recently abandoned mall and got yelled at haha
This makes me want to fly to the States and go exploring with you. Whereabouts are you? Of course you don't have to say if you don't want to. I understand - not everyone likes to disclose where they live... Plus I might come murder you - ya never knowDown south it's a lot spookier. I don't get out much of course but there are a lot of old ramshackle houses in the middle of nowhere. Really wish I could get out and take a look.
Yeah, I have to admit, I do chuckle to myself when they mention on American programmes how old a place is, and it's built in like 1890... I swear my grandmother is older than that! Obviously she isn't, but you get the idea. America is definitely not synonymous with old.I am envious of the UK and Europe for its antiquity though. Even coming from New England, it feels like the stuff there is so babyish. It's a shame stuff has been torn down :/
And yeah, I can't be dealing with the politics of things. I'm just here for a good time. And yes. The deeper you get into a community, the more stringent and gatekeeping it becomes. Takes the fun out of it.
Aww Glynis this is so sweet. I am also a twin haha.
Twin for the win! We have many twins in my family - I am not one of a pair though. However, my little sister is my mini me.Yes I'm a twin.
I think we can all agree, that you have accomplished amazing things, considering how much you have had to suffer. The first picture is after my wife and I successfully had the offer on our first home accepted. I was quite happy here. I had battled chronic illness all throughout grad school, did well in a competitive interview process, and landed the job I wanted. My stressful year was almost over, with the only main obstacles left being closing, finishing my thesis, defending, and moving. My wife (hidden for privacy) also succeeded
I just want you to know that you single handedly killed my stereotype that Eagles fans are major a-holes .Well, I'm making a small step in being less ashamed of my disability by posting some pictures. I figure, if any loved ones see these, they will already know who I am from seeing enough of my posts to make it to this point.

My wife (hidden for privacy) also succeeded under difficult circumstances. At the time of this picture, if you would have said the word "hyperacusis," I would have said "what's that?"
The second picture is in month 15 of hyperacusis. I had started steroids a month ago and increased my LDLs from essentially 0 dB to around 20-30 dB. I had to turn the window unit off to play Scribbage with my wife. I'm surprised I look so happy, as that was far from reality. I think maybe I believed that steroids were going to keep improving my LDLs, but they pretty much leveled off right around the time of the picture. My cat is happy as can be. She loves games where she can try to knock the pieces around.
