Photo Album of Tinnitus Talk Members

@Jazzer, you are very handsome!!

Well if I'm honest Flamingo, my incredible photographer can make anybody look good.
I'm not normally a big smiler (since severe Tinnitus bit me) but he knew exactly what to do.

He looked at me through the lens, and said
"Dave - I won't ask you to smile - but some teeth would be nice....!"
"I laughed at the contrivance and he managed to catch a smile on the way down."
The best photographers are psychologists.
Thanks for watching Flamingo.

Everyone looks so genuine and kind. I dream of the day all of us are smiling like that again.

First photo is me while I was a vet student, visiting Chicago for the first time all hopeful about my future life and the second photo is me today: world weary and usually can't be bothered with stuff like makeup or picking up my office.

You look great FGG - and very brave of you to post your picture.
Most hide behind an avatar.
I love to see photos - you can tell so much from a face. Yours is sensitive and kind.
I wish every one of us better days.
We so deserve it.

Take care,

MrBS - I don't think I can keep that promise bro.
Those that suffer share an affinity.
The most poignant aspect of this whole site for me is the opportunity to share relationships.
We so need the company of others that truly understand.

Best to you brother,
Dave x

Never seen this thread before. You all look like such nice people.
Pre- severe tinnitus. 32 years old.
Weight: 80 kgs.

Post-severe tinnitus. 34 years old. weight: 104 kgs.

I gained more than 20 kilograms trying to mask my tinnitus by chewing.
Your story reminds me of mine. I've added 19kgs since tinnitus became my live-in room mate. Went from 86kgs to 105kgs in 6 months. Trying to reverse things, but losing it is harder than gaining.

To all members of Tinnitus Talk,
when @OnceUponaTime first suggested this thread in May 2019 I thought it was a really great idea.
A thread literally devoted to the human face of Tinnitus Talk.
When it was first mooted a few 'brave souls' exposed themselves
(no - not like that - silly) and posted.
Within a few days the thread fizzled out.
Perhaps it's time for a few others to join in.

I am feeling courageous or just indifferent today... so... here I am.

... 3 years ago - taken a couple of months before tinnitus onset (my 3rd anniversary is coming up :/)

....now - on a good day (with natural hair colour growing out - can't be bothered to do anything about it)

I definitely feel I look more tired and worn out these days. But I guess the exterior just reveals the inside :/

Thank you for joining in. x
You still look very lovely DG - and of course I quite understand what you are saying.
This 'thing' takes its toll on us for sure.

But I see nothing wrong with a hint of the truth coming through.
I have a lovely bubbly neighbour two doors away who said to me:
"Dave - if ever I ask you how you are, you say
'I'm okay' or ''not bad thank you.'
You never say 'I'm great!'"

"Meryl - I live with constant noise in my head,
would you feel happier if I lied in order to make you feel better?"

I generally manage cheerfulness, but I do know the truth of my struggle of course.
Best wishes DG
Dave xx
