I drive everywhere that I can. I have a converted camper van :)

I would always prefer to drive rather than take a plane. Though obviously some places are only accessible to me by plane. But I much prefer to hit the road and take my little home with me.

Ah yes Italy — I am now saving to buy a house in Tuscany. I've been in love with the place since I studied over there.

Have you travelled anywhere nice? X
Tuscany is so beautiful! I did a semester in Italy and it was so fantastic, I had such a blast learning about Italian art and drawing from it. It was in my pre-hyperacusis life, so I got to enjoy a couple of loud nights of clubbing :p. I hope I can go back some day!

I wonder if FX-322 feels insecure about the size of its... half-life... I mean, it can't penetrate very deeply.

Right, chat up lines aside, today I helped to photograph historic objects from an engineering museum. :)

The museum itself was originally designed for assembly-line production in 1778 - it was absolutely beautiful!

It's funny, because although the museum is almost silent, I'm in such deep concentration, I often forget about the tinnitus.

So what has everyone else done today?

P.S. As good as the day was, I'm now ill. :depressed:

I did a couple of hours of coding. Personal creative project. I struggle a bit to maintain focus, and was struggling with executive dysfunction even before the demons got their little PA system installed. But the only way I'll ever get my "self" back is to put in some time on creative work, even if it's an hour or two here and there.

I'm sure it will become easier Keith. Just have to keep persisting.
Personal creative project.
Anything interesting? Or would you rather not share - which is absolutely fine :)

Nice! Bet that cost a bit to buy - toolboxes are flipping expensive! Love the colour :)
Ha, I've been saving my pennies for a little while. Yeah, the red/black combo was the selling point for me, and that it's Milwaukee. #SometimesMadeInAmerica

I love Tuscany. I can't wait to get back someday. Ears permitting. I've enjoyed looking at all of your photos. You have indeed traveled to so many places.

I've done a lot of traveling through Europe, the US, where I live and I've been to Egypt. My dream now is to go to Thailand and do an African safari, but I have one kid going to college in 2 years so I don't see it happening. I will have to settle for taking my younger child to Disney World in the fall.

Disneyland has opened up here and I really want to go but I'm afraid of all the noise and, of course, going for the first time without my ex. I was passholder for 10 years. I know all the ins and outs, but I don't know if I can do it anymore. I wish I had known the last time I went (October 2019) was possibly my last visit =/

It won't be your last bro

That's super interesting - 1778! Surely that'd make it one of the earliest plants of the industrial revolution...
I guess it must be! Only the historic core of the original building survives, and is grade II* listed. The Victorian water tower is grade II listed.

The machinery it houses is also amazing. The whole place feels frozen in time.

Same - in fact, going to Disneyland has been a childhood dream, but now my ears couldn't handle the noise. I'd have to walk round in ridiculous headphones and earplugs, and even then, it would probably be too loud.

I'm glad you enjoy them :) I started travelling when I was 17. I saved up my money and bought myself a train ticket to France. And I never stopped going places after that.

Even last year, I managed to fit in a road trip around Scotland. I was very nervous about driving the noisy old van for hours, but with double ear protection on, I was okay. Maybe a slight spike, but nothing concerning.

And yes, Tuscany is the one! Such a beautiful part of Italy. Whereabouts did you stay when you visited? I've just booked to go to Rome at the end of October. There is a few places I need to visit for research.

Where else have you been in Europe? And what was your favourite place? One of mine is Germany. I love everything about it. I would move there, but houses are as expensive as England's.

You could still visit those places once the children are fully independent. I know lots of people who travelled later in life. :)

And as for travelling the US - that is my dream. I want to buy a car over there, and do a trip across the states. As a child, all I wanted was to grow up in the US. Don't get me wrong, England is beautiful, but America, wow, the country is so diverse in its landscape.

Yeah, I clocked it was Milwaukee. I can tell you're pleased with it. :D

I've never had the need to own a massive tool box, but everyone I know does, and they always show them off to me, and tell me all about them - so when you posted your photo I was like - "cor, I bet that cost a bit." Haha!

Nice! Do you have your own business - or do you work for someone?
Oh, I've worked for the same small family winery for 15 years now. I've never had the desire to have my own label, etc. Too much of a headache and I recognize that I'm not a businessman. I'd rather focus on production, really.

LOL. I'm usually not one to show off... but why are people always showing you their toolbox?

I did travel a lot when I was very young, but I don't remember much of it. I went to Mexico with my family once, which was an interesting trip. In terms of Europe, the only countries I visited were France and Ukraine. I don't think Ukraine really counts for much though since that's just where a lot of my family is. Overall, given my personality, I wouldn't say I let myself confront much excitement in my life.

My travels to Europe include Portugal, Sicily, Italy, England, France, Germany, Austria, Ireland and Greece. I've also been to Turkey.

I also enjoyed Germany very much. I wasn't 100% sure what to expect, but it was a great trip. My mom and I did a cruise of the Danube and we visited the Christmas markets in Germany and Austria. And did a day trip to Slovakia. The river was beautiful because it was winter and all of the trees were covered in icy snow.

You sound like me in that we both have a passion for travel. I remember saving up all of my money to go to Mexico with my Spanish class in high school. I babysat for this god-awful man all summer and I had all the money saved and then the trip got canceled. So then I ended up going to Disney World, where I'd never been, with my church group. So in the end I did get a trip out of it.

In Tuscany, I stayed in Florence. But I branched out and traveled to Siena, Chianti, and San Gimignano. I also went to Pisa, Cinque Terre and Venice. I personally feel like everybody needs to see Venice once in their lifetime. I had hoped to plan a family trip back to Italy and include Venice. When I went before, I went with a friend and my mother. Anyway I have two boys who are athletes and they play very very expensive sports. So that really curtailed the vacation fund. I am hoping to do a family trip before my oldest goes to college but I suspect it will be Aruba since Italy would be quite costly.

I spent some time in Rome on my way to Egypt. When I go back to Italy, I really would love to do the Amalfi coast. That is included in my bucket list. When I was in Egypt I really wanted to do an African safari since I was in Africa, but the added cost was just too great. I was traveling with my mom and my oldest son.

The US offers much in terms of travel. You are correct we have some amazing state parks and such diverse landscapes. The Grand Canyon and Sedona Arizona in particular, are two of my favorite places in the US. I also have family in California and the California Coast is amazing. I live in Boston and it's a really pretty city, especially in the fall.

I've been to Disneyland many times. I have family both in Southern and Northern California.

Have you considered wearing earplugs? That's what I do. I just take them out when I don't need them and I certainly put them in when I go on any rides. I have custom-made musicians earplugs. They're super easy to travel with and they fit perfectly in my ear. I actually have two pairs so that I always have a spare with me. I am making an assumption that you do not have hyperacusis. If you do, then Disneyland is probably not a good plan.

I have not been to an amusement park since my tinnitus started last year. I know that doesn't make sense compared to what I wrote above but I actually had tinnitus in 2015 and it lasted for about two years and went away. It was from an acoustic trauma of attending an AC/DC concert without earplugs. What the heck was I thinking? But I had absolutely no idea of the damage that can be done to your hearing. Anyway, that's a story for another day. My bilateral tinnitus eventually resolved but I did get my custom earplugs and have always protected my ears since.

So heading to Disney World in Florida this fall as my younger son has never been to Disney World. Only Disneyland. I plan to go with all of my relevant ear protection.

If you love Disneyland, I say go with ear protection. I know it might feel weird without your ex being with you but maybe you'll meet someone else in line waiting for a Space Mountain.

This sounds so wrong haha!

I hang around workshops a lot. I love motorcycles and cars. Bit of a petrol head. My dream car is a Scirocco Mk2. You can pick them up in the UK for £3000-5000. However, I'm saving for a house, and don't have the money :(

Or, a Nissan 200SX. I don't mind the 300ZX, but I prefer the shape of the SX.

Bike wise - sticking to my English routes, I love a Triumph. Anything chrome and shiny.
