@Exit, it's because Romania is the land of vampires... one of their attributes is that they age so well and always look younger than their actual age.

@aura, tell Dracula I said hi.

That moment when you remember your name is Elmer :)
I've got more than one name @aura. A few to know:

Gombean
Eejit
Old man

And a few which aren't printable.

I'm pretty sure a new one was added yesterday after I went off at the doctor's receptionist, probably something like asshole or fecking ass. I don't care, sometimes ya have to drive the point home like take on the responsibility of your job, not hanging out in the back office talking about how tight your knickers are fitting.

(amusing meme about sound volume fluctuations)
There are solutions to that problem. What you want is a device called "limiter", a.k.a. "brickwall limiter" or "audio limiter". These things are well established and long known in recording studios.

Limiters are available as standalone devices, or included in some "Hi-Fi" gear as mentioned by @kingsfan, or even as software drivers under Windows. In my opinion absolutely essential, precisely because of the situation illustrated in your post. The windows driver is available as "Donationware", i.e. free of charge if you prefer not to pay anything.

@El BUZZ, they are actually feral goats, left behind by miners who were mining for lead and other metals, back in the late 1800s. There is quite a bunch of them in the Wicklow mountains near Glendalough.
I don't remember having asked you about those animals, mate...

But I remember having lived in Cork City and Sligo for a long while and didn't see any horned donkey around there.

Epic.

I wish I had made it to New York before my tinnitus and ETD hit.

Everything there is just so BIG.
NYC is a really beautiful city and the thing I like the most, is that you have so much stuff to do. You will never get bored in NYC for sure.

Takes me straight back to 2018 (pre-tinnitus) when me and my friend traveled to East Coast. We spent 2 out of 5 days in NYC, and it was probably one of the most memorable experiences of my life. I distinctly remember how we took the Subway from JFK, and walked up the stairs into the daylight of the buzzing city. Pretty much all expectations were fulfilled.

Central park was wonderful.

I guess you're drinking gunpowder tea.
Decided to go down your Japanese tea route and got myself a packet of that Sencha type, the one for beginners.

But tell me: What is the need for a teapot at all. Why not simply a good cup and some boiling water?

I suppose it might take from the ritual somewhat and the ceremony of drinking in an atmosphere of calm awareness and of the Buhddist mantra?

Buhddist or Buddhist, mate? Ritual? Mantra? Ceremony?

It's just tea, dude. :dunno:

A proper teapot will brew tea in a much better way than a mug. Keeping a steady hot temperature during the whole brewing is key to obtain the best of the liquor (flavor/benefits). That is something you won't achieve with a mug.

Couple of nighttime phone snaps of the lovely Lincolnshire town of Stamford. A church on practically every corner, and many nice pubs that never lost their traditional feel. Had a romantic weekend for three: Mrs. UKB, me, and angle-grinder tinnitus :)

Anhyow, what can we do? Keep moving forward, and never forget that for every bad day there's a good one in waiting.
