HAPPY SOLSTICE EVERYONE!

Some photos from last nights celebration at Stonehenge.

The chanting. The drumming. The Druids. The smell of burning sage and incense everywhere. The bright orange moon. The first glimpse of the solstice sun.

That's amazing, I had no idea people are still allowed up there. Thought it'd been fenced off years ago.

It is fenced off apart from on Summer & Winter Solstice, then it's free to access and you can be amongst the stones.

It was my first time there. Usually, I go to the east coast to watch the sunrise, but I thought it was time to go to Stonehenge. The vibe was good and happy - obviously a few wreckheads but there always will be. The Druids gathered around the Heel Stone for sunrise - it was a beautiful thing to see. And within the stones, a huge group of people stood close together holding hands for nearly two hours in some kind of trance. I know someone made a comment about it obviously not looking very "hippie/Druidie", but it was. Lots of folks in white robes and headdresses, drums being banged everywhere, horns and pipes being played - it was great! I only got the photos above because I wanted to enjoy the moment rather than photographing everything.

This is sooo awesome!!!

I absolutely HATE crowds but I wouldn't mind making an exception there.

Yeah me too! I'm usually a "crowd avoider" at all costs, but the atmosphere was great. My partner also hates crowds with a passion - but he loved it. Maybe we'll see you at the solstice next year.

That's me :) hope you like it <3

I will hold you to that! Do you swim at all? The sea looks beautiful. I'm off on holiday next week plan to swim outside as much as possible.
Whenever you want to! It would be really awesome.

Most of the time I am in Sevilla, Jerez de la Frontera, Bornos or Cadiz. I also spend spare days around villages in the surrounding of the coast. You are more than welcome to enjoy a nomadic trip, yet with full comfort.

I love swimming, a lot. What I struggle with is staying laying on the sand under the sun for hours. That's something I don't dig.

Come!

First day in Barcelona, it's beautiful and the food is really good but this city is so damn loud.

I hope you enjoy Barcelona. For me double protection is needed when I go to the city. There are too many motorbikes and they are VERY loud.

An area where you can stroll without traffic is El Borne, which is mostly pedestrian as it is so old. And there are plenty of cafes and places to have a drink outside. The park (Ciutadella) is very close by too.

Enjoy!

Heyy there, love that place, Gaudi is awesome. Hope you have a great time despite the noise.
Casa Batlló is really good, but I think it got expensive.

I browsed (briefly) on the Internet last year and there were tickets for like... 39 euros per person! That's crazy for Spain... a tourist rip-off.

For "residents" two people can get it for like 35 euros and that's still crazy expensive for Spain...

Anyway, that's the most impressive house Gaudí built, located right at Passeig de Gracia.

Thank you very much for your recommandations, @Juan. I will definitely go visit them. I'm at the beach right now and I love the sound of the water, it's enough to mask my tinnitus and it is relaxing. I wish you a great day and all the best!
