Barely some life besides my boxing club these days. Earplugs in at all times. I had the chance to train a cool Spanish cartoonist. Cat smokes and does booze like a maniac but has better cardio than lots of athletes I know...

I tested positive for COVID-19 last week. Symptoms lasted just 12 hours which was much better than it may seem as I wouldn't have endured them much longer.

Mega headache, super coughing, ultra asphyxia. They all subsided as if a switch had been switched off, all of a sudden. Praises due to vaccines and science.

I hope you all are doing great.
Hi @El BUZZ, do you really have disabling tinnitus? If so, how on earth do you manage to box?

Personally I am so weak from lack of sleep due to tinnitus that I constantly feel extremely weak and wobbly.

I feel that if someone brushes up against me in the street I could fall to the ground because I am so weak (although I eat very well).

Boxing is probably the last sport I would ever take up because of this damn disease. I don't know how you do it.

Hi Kam,

I've had tinnitus for 7 years now. I had to give up my musical career when I first got it plus I had to radically change lots of my musically related habits. I can hear my tinnitus 24/7 everywhere. Almost nothing can mask it. It sounds like an angle grinder chopping through thin layers of tin. It has taken me to really dark psychological places.

I can firmly say that boxing has saved my life. It is a very demanding sport which can be physically approached in many ways. Skipping rope, running, lifting weights, working on footwork, coordination, cardio, balance, strength, etc... makes it an incredibly complete sport. I love it so much!

Of course I am worried about a blow making my tinnitus worse but the consequences of giving up the sport would be way more devastating.

I miss being able to drive and enjoy my car, KITT, an '82 Trans Am, Knight Rider replica. With severe tinnitus and hyperacusis, haven't been able to.

350 in there? My first car was a '82 Camaro with a carbed V6... it was horrible lol.

I said I took up violin despite tinnitus in left ear. I use a foam earplug and seem to be ok so far. At least my tinnitus is okayish. Not sure about my playing but this is a long, slow journey.

KITT's still got his original engine, atm — a 3.1 L V6. I planned to upgrade to a 350 someday. He has 100k miles right now. Had the car since 2002. Got it in high school (my first car). I first transformed it to a white KITT back then and later restored it to be show-accurate. I also got paint protection film on it. It self heals when rocks hit or it gets scratched — you'll see the "damage" disappear before your very eyes. So it's kinda like the TV show car in that respect, too. Your Camaro sounds cool. My mom had one of those when we were young.

What is your favorite violin song? Mine is "Nearer, My God, to Thee." It's the famous song that was played at the end of Titanic when the ship was making its final decent. It was played in real life during the sinking, too. I've always liked that one for its haunting qualities; its beauty / melancholy wrapped into one, capturing the essence of life itself — good and bad. I don't know many violin songs, though, tbh. It's just that this one always comes to mind when I think of violins.

You did a great job, it looks sharp! My Camaro was a complete pile. I was in high school and just got my driver's license with a few hundred dollars to my name. I came across a primer-gray 82 Camaro sitting in a farmers field. Offered him a couple hundred bucks and I took it home. Had to stop by Kmart and grab a ton of car care products to basically put lipstick on a pig, but she was all mine.

Thanks, man! Ya, most people's first car story is that of a car that isn't in tip-top shape or needs a lot of TLC. But I was thankful to find a car that was already in great shape with KITT. He had 74k miles when I got him and was well taken care of. And the exterior was in great shape, too. Interior didn't have one single tear or abrasion — and still doesn't. I was blessed to find a great car. Your Camaro still sounds cool, even though you say it wasn't perfect! I bet it was a fun ride and provided a lot of cherished memories.

That is a beautiful piece.

Too many great pieces to think of one more than any other.

I think your Tranzam is very cool.

It is good to see your pictures of the car and the multi screen room etc. From the mood of your posts - and the graphics you post - I imagined you sitting all day in a quiet darkened room with the bible in your lap and your hands pressed to your temples and eyes closed.

You understand those pictures by @Jerad are from BEFORE the hell he started experiencing? Now he's probably doing exactly this:

No, I did not realise that. I wrongly assumed people are posting photos of themselves as they are now.

LOL, it wasn't that loud and I was always wearing my musician's earplugs.

The only good thing I have been seeing in the last year is that a lot of kids use hearing protection and it seems parents are paying more attention to their kids' ears and that makes me happy.

Ya, those were throwback posts where I was celebrating and mourning the past; things I haven't been able to do lately. But I hope to reclaim them in the future. :) Thanks for the compliments. Actually, the reason I'm not working at NBC now is unrelated to tinnitus or hyperacusis. They relocated the hub to South Carolina and I opted not to go. I'm in Ohio. Wish I had gone, though. Perhaps I would've avoided this mess. They were trying to recruit for the Indianapolis hub here recently and I can't go because of my health. I'm sad because I would've gone — it's only a few hours away. I hope to someday.

I still take care of KITT with the help of family. Plus, as we all know, he's KITT — he can drive himself. So I let him do that from time to time. lol ;) On a serious note, though, he is like the real KITT in some respects. He has paint protection film. When a rock hits the car or something scratches it, you'll see it heal before your very eyes; everything disappears. It's an amazing feat of technology and good for KITT because it's kinda like the TV show with the molecular-bonded shell. Here was them wrapping him with the film. He also has a ceramic coating overtop that:

My life was full of color — vibrant; so alive. But now it's black and white, lifeless for my body. I see the colors, see them shine, their light just swirls around me, but passes through my ether realm and enters nevermore. I am no tenant of this world; no part of its design. Eviction took that sacred right; dissolved it from my hold. So now I'm just a viewer here, a watcher of the old: a bygone place that basked in color, who loved itself and many more. Doomed to its design I am, a loathsome, broken man; a blot disowned eternally — that and nothing more.

Monday memories... Arnold Schwarzenegger inspired me to lift. I got in pretty good shape. Could have been better, tho. Took 5 years to get to this point. It was all natural; just whey protein and a good diet. Didn't even use creatine.

As the new year unfolds, new heavy and trascendental questions, doubts and diatribes arise and take their toll off the calendar.

That's why with this rare and crescently scarce free time I've got while I'm writing this, I ask for a bit of your time to help me solve something.

Considering new frame.

Which one do you think suits better my goon shrek wack face?

Above: Rounded Ray Bans which have served me well for the past decade.

Below: Moscot Lemtosh 49. Not that I want to look like Johnny Deep, specially not the most recent look he sported in public. I just like it's thickness and the hateful nerd look they provide. They're robust af and apparently a cultural icon, which I don't give a nut about.

Well, let me know.

Well if it's "looks" is the criterion you're going on -- and there could be others like convenience, price, trouble etc. -- I'd say that you look best without the glasses => that implies go for contact lenses? Of course that's another kettle of fish.

I once got a specialist to look at my eyes. I wanted to know should I go for that lasic surgery. He told me two things:

1) Don't go for the LASK thing, it's only for the younger set... you know, in your twenties or thirties. Maybe he was right there -- but you know, technology gets better as the years go by. Maybe things have improved since then.

2) He said that in two or three years I'd suffer from cataracts... and that was around eight years ago. So he was wrong on nr 2).

I hope this helps.
