Hi everyone I'm new and hoping for some answers or some hope.

I'm 32 years old last week on April 28 me and my wife was watching a movie at home and after the movie about 1am I went to put my head down to sleep and I heard this ringing for no reason I didn't do anything and the ringing has bin there since nonstop.

I went to the ent doctor 5 days after my on set and said that she seen some swelling in my Eustachian tube which is prescribed me qnasl nose spray and 5days course of prednisone also I'm taking ring relief and sudafed.

I have ringing in both ears it usually goes from left to right I'm having panic attacks no sleep can't stop thinking of it, granted since the medication I get some relief but it comes on strong then there are times it fades to a very low point but then picks up loud again is this normal.

I have been reading these forums and everyone seems to be stuck with it or is it that the people who get rid of it just never come back, any help would be appreciated thanks' god bless

You are still in the early stages and hopefully after treating ETD it will either go away entirely or be reduced to a level where you only hear it in near-silence situations.

As for things that can help you sleep - these help me:
1) Masking sounds/music - I like this one
2) A relaxing tea such as Chamomile.
3) Some activity to calm down before bed. Reading (With some light music), playing a game for a little bit (The new Zelda: Breath of the Wild on the Switch has been great for me in bursts). What helped me is not reading from a cellphone right before bed - made it much harder to sleep.
4) If sleep is particularly hard to come by I take some Melatonin. While pills work (Although they are a rather large dosage) I find this one works best for me https://www.amazon.com/Emergen-C-Emergen-Zzzz-Vitamin-Melatonin-Packets/dp/B00WVLPNFS as mixing it into hot water is calming as well.

Hope you feel better in the following weeks!

Hello, I am 14 years old and I developed tinnitus a month ago from a loud concert . I also have mild ETD from a previous cold. I have a 24 flight to South Africa in less than a month and I am petrified for the feeling of blockage/ pressure in my ears to get worse due to high altitudes. I was prescribed prednisone (small dose for 7 days) over the phone but the doctor never saw me. My hearing is normal and so is my tympanogram. My ent now doesn't recommend taking the prednisone as my ETD should go away over time and taking it is unnecessary. But, I don't want to fly with blocked ears and ringing. Nasal sprays and decongestants don't help. Has prednisone helped you? Do you think it would help me? I also take melatonin which helps a lot. I wish you luck and my prayers are with you.

When I took prednisone, there was no immediate impact. However, it is possible that had I not taken prednisone, I would be feeling even worse now. I will never know whether prednisone had helped me.
