Visual snow is a visual phenomenon that's extremely linked to tinnitus. For the most part, it kind of looks like this:

I suppose it depends how severe we're talking but in low light or whilst looking at a white background I've definitely got it. In low light I can see what looks like pixels moving; like a low quality video. However, I wouldn't exactly describe my vision as a low quality video but that's my best description of how it appears.

I just asked my wife and she said she has the same thing in low light. BTW, she has mild T. Probably the same T I had before it went crazy.

I hate going off topic but how did your T worsen?

Noise exposure. I was a musician and I suppose all the rehearsals and gigs took their toll. In the end, it was a band I went to see, in a bar, that ended up being the straw that broke the camels back.

Its crazy how you can go to gig after gig without any impact and then one more makes your T 5 times worse, got tbe same. We were not really given a warning.

I can see it if i look at a white wall. Also i can see bright dots against a white wall sometimes, they come and go within a split second it seems.

I've had eye floaters since I was a child, long before tinnitus appeared. I also have visual snow when I look at the sky or a white background. I thought everyone did in those scenarios, never realized it was not normal. Again, it's something I remember having as a child.

My kids have even mentioned occasionally seeing a spot (a floater) or noticing a white wall looks funny. Their pediatric eye doctor said that wasn't unusual.

Obviously there are severe cases of visual snow and eye floaters. But the mild forms must be fairly common, similar to how mild tinnitus is common.

Some floaters here. They were there long before tinnitus onset. I only notice them if I remember I have them or when looking at the sky with daylight or at my office where the walls are white.
Nothing compared with the pain in the ass which is my tinnitus.

I have bad eye floaters, some come and go and others stay in my vision but dance around. Is floaters linked to tinnitus? I have like black shadow ones and I also have little circle clear ones. It's annoying.
They are linked because both are supposed to be filtered out by the brain. Thats why people with T often have floaters and VS as well.

Sometimes the floaters bother me more than the T. When Im driving in sunny weather without sunglasses I literally see tens of floaters

I have pretty bad visual snow, both in dark and light surroundings.
I used to have a mild version of visual snow but it has gotten a lot worse after tinnitus came along.

Do you see the squiggly lines? If I'm outside i see them going across my vision every so often. The small dot ones I see far less frequently, once or twice a month.

Floaters are extremely common and I've had them ever since I can remember. My wife also has them. I think they are only worth worrying about if you suddenly develop a lot more as this can signify a detached, or partially detached, retina.

A friend of mine had a procedure done to remove his.

I remember having floaters already in childhood but never really noticed them. After my light car accident in April i suddenly noticed more of them, about 3-4 (on of them is a bit darker) in the middle of both eyes. But they are not really bothering me and i can ignore them most of the day. No VS as far as i know.

Hi. I've had reactive tinnitus and hyperacusis for 3 months. I had normal tinnitus for a year before this all happened.

I thought I was doing better and today I stepped outside and was attacked by black floaters.....I couldn't see anything. It's not like I could ignore it and I wasn't even anxious when it happened because I had read this could happen so I knew not to panic.

I had to stumble back inside. Is my vision gone now too? I'm 23.

I have black eye floaters, never in my life have I had this before, they appeared in March after my T worsened. I see them on an overcast day and on walls of my home, any light surface, but I also see them on roads (pavement) they are so dark that they can be seen even there.

And there's nothing we can do?
@dpdx

On September 15, 2017 I was a healthy 27 year old.
September 23, 2017 Tinnitus
January 16/17-Severe Tinnitus, Hyperacusis Severe and BAM Black eye floaters a month or so later. I think its not the problem with the eyes but with the brain, the black eye floaters are mostly in my left eye, and I have Severe T in my left ear? coincidence??? I dont think so

It's not like I just thought they were annoying. I genuinely couldn't see past them. Everything was almost black

One user here has also black eye floaters @Chad Lawton he went to an optometrist to check it out, his eyes were normal, so he thinks it might related to T.
