Poor Man's FX-322 — Carrageenan

The way these gamma secretase inhibitors like the Audion drug and FX-322 work is by stimulating a cellular pathway that causes things to happen inside the cell which ultimately causes a molecule called beta-catenin to NOT be destroyed and build up and enter into the nucleus. This is what causes the supporting cell to turn into a hair cell.

Doing this in your whole body is dangerous because this is one way cancers grow. The early hair cell experiments involved feeding rodents the gamma secretase inhibitors which restored their hearing but also gave them awesome tumors. This is why they are going the injection route.

There is a food additive called carrageenan. It is a thickener that's in basically everything, and is being implicated in causing cancer because it stimulates the wnt/beta-catenin pathway.

"Exposure to the common food additive carrageenan was previously associated with increased Wnt9A expression and increased cytoplasmic β-catenin in human colonic epithelial cells."

Well, I just realized that neti pots can blast liquid up into the middle ear. Just what if the solution is to make a solution of hot water and carrageenan and blast it up our noses?

I might reconsider this. No evidence anything useful can diffuse and may be locally irritating or worse, may cause a huge inflammatory reaction.

Do bacteria grow in carrageenan? Would you be running the risk of filling your ear with something that would promote infection?

Good question, since when using a neti pot that's a concern. Bacteria that the stomach can kill will be able to cause problems when passing the nasal passages

Nah man you're smart

You don't need sterile water to use a neti, but there are some bacteria or amoebae that can kill you that can be found in tap water. Not many cases recorded worldwide though, two in Florida

Also, carrageenan may not be safe for this use. I also don't know if carrageenan can pass the round window membrane.
