Nowadays, for people like me, at least, I’ve come to realize that it doesn’t matter who the President of the United States is. There are systematic flaws that go well beyond his or her control. For example, I know people who were denied disability rights even after several attempts. And these people were severely disabled, like extreme hyperacusis. It’s because some diseases are so rare that the system doesn’t acknowledge them or believe in them, like invisible illnesses. And for the few that did get it granted, the amount of money was so small that it wasn’t enough to survive on, given the disease they had and how debilitating is was.

Often, the same thing happens to military veterans, where they get pennies on the dollar when the government dismisses their rare conditions. They don’t realize how bad it is or simply don’t care, even though those people gave their lives to preserve its freedom. Many in that situation end up committing suicide because they have no way to survive. And 20 veterans a day commit suicide in the USA. I myself couldn’t even get a 3-month paid medical leave from work for extreme noxacusis, even though my doctor signed-off on it and said I needed it big time. My greedy insurance company rejected it. I’ve been a good citizen all my life; paid my taxes; no debt; no crimes; always voted; worked for 22 years straight and never took time off, even when I had severe back issues. But now, in my hour of need, they’ve left me in the dust. Can’t get disability rights. The system is so full of flaws. In plain sight, you have a lot of scamming going on and the country aids or abets in the process, while also having the audacity to take the moral high ground on ethics. America is a great country for a lot of people, but for some, it’s a complete failure. And for those who refuse to acknowledge that, their coming from a place of privilege, apathy, or good fortune. Not everyone has it easy in life. Not seeing it that way is one of the problems in my country — and the world, for that matter.

For those who are rich, yes.

 

Problems with the US come down to 5 things:

1. Political parties and polarization.

2. Corporations being viewed as people (Citizens United), allowing them to use unlimited amount of money to support or attack any candidates via super PACs (political action committees). There’s a reason why Bernie Sanders kept getting shitted on.

3. Big business and special interest lobbying to US Congress to influence policy.

4. Bureaucracy.

5. Terrible education system.

I had a crush on Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez. She’s disappointed me a bit as a house member...

 

Not necessarily just for the rich. You can have a great life here even without a ton of money.

 

I find her quite attractive, and she's a politician... better looking than Trump at least haha.

 

In Spain the contribution of corporations to the total budget (corporation tax) has fallen 40% from 2007. The contribution of workers (income tax) to support the welfare state has increased 30% since 2007. I can imagine these figures are even worse in the US..

So workers, normal people, are paying the taxes that billionaires and their companies do not pay.

 

True, which is why lobbying to politicians needs to come to an end. Prevent the wealthy elite from influencing economic policy. It’s extremely hard to reverse current economic/tax policy that favors corporations because the money inside politics is deeply entrenched already. Politicians get bribed very easily, more so if they’re long serving members. The game is rigged when you think about it...

Not really. I do not admire any of those billionaires. I despise them for being so hypocritical. Bill Gates, for instance, floods the Internet with clickbait pieces where he allegedly states "tax me, we need to contribute more!"

Apparently Bill Gates or Warren Buffett (another one of those clowns of the "tax me" bullshit) ignore they can just give away their money to the state. I do not know any single state or government on Earth who says no to a donation of money.

They could as well stop setting their fake "foundations" and stop evading tax. The tax system is designed for people to pay. There are no taxes designed to be reduced or avoided, but apparently Mr Gates, Mr Buffett and their lawyers ignore this basic fact.

Mark Ruffalo. I always felt he was hugely underrated - both as an actor and for his charisma. He is quirky and handsome at the same time. Really loved him in "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind", "Dark Waters" and "Spotlight".

 

He also has a few things in common with folks in here: he had an acoustic neuroma and lost his hearing in one ear. Not sure if he has tinnitus though, as he didn't mention it in the interview I read.
