If tinnitus/hyperacusis were cured, what's the first song people would listen to? Mine would be Aces High by Iron Maiden. I miss my metal.

Any song from Slipknot... I can't tolerate heavy metal like I used to.

Btw, I don't think I've ever asked you, but what's the nature of your tinnitus like? Loudness? Any reactive component? Do you have hyperacusis too?

And do you hate how your tinnitus gets mixed into the music too?

@ZFire, I definitely have hyperacusis. My tinnitus I would describe as a symphony. The same few tones playing over again. It is loud, very tinny, metallic, piercing. Then there is the siren and pulsing. And in the background, a finger around the rim of a glass. I generally don't have reactive tinnitus but it did seem louder when I had the bathroom fan on. Maybe it just reacts to certain sounds.

I can't listen to heavy metal anymore. And music in general, I mostly avoid. But I keep bringing it up in here. I should stop that. Guess I just miss it.

Yeah, heavy metal and death metal feels too harsh and cruel for me post onset. The electric guitar makes me feel very uneasy as it sounds too screechy, so I've have been mostly avoiding that. I'm not sure if it's mental, but it's like my ears are telling me to avoid heavy metal. Too uncomfortable.

Wow, I have so many! This is one that a lot of people have recorded. Jimmy Cliff wrote and performed the first version, and I have a New Orleans band called The Neville Brothers (with a LOT of other great musicians on the stage w/ them) doing their version under it. Beautiful song, I wish there was more music like this today. The Nevilles made it more of a New Orleans funky, gospel, back beat sort of thang.
