Hello everybody,

I live in a country where people are used to kiss one each other on cheeks every time they meet.

The problem is that some people kiss very strong and cause me temporary tinnitus.
This happened few minutes ago.

Should I be concerned about it? Any body knows if this could cause a worsening in my tinnitus? (which seems to have calmed down during the last months)

The kiss was on the cheek near the mouth, not that close to my ear, but enough to cause tinnitus spike.

Kisses to everyone!! :D

Tinnitus is often somatic. The noises don't have to be loud for it to react. The sound of a kiss is highly unlikely to permanently worsen your tinnitus. I work around screaming children all day and that's yet to affect my tinnitus in more ways than a temporary spike. A kiss should be fine~

There is a certain truth to all this as I know of at least one person, (plus one on here) who developed acute and lasting tinnitus and hyperacusis from being kissed right on the ear.

Its a known phenomenon, half-jokingly referred to as the Kiss of Deaf.

You could have dental or mandibular nerve or joint problems. It seems to be somatic. Maybe acoustic pathways such as your trigeminal nerve.

Thank you all for your answers, some of you have mentioned the somatic scenario that seems to be very strong in my case. I have indeed dental and TMJ issues. Finally the kiss came out to be harmless.

Yesterday for the first time since my tinnitus started, I've been to a very loud wedding party. Since I was wearing all the time my foam earplugs and since I didn't notice any change in my tinnitus, I don't think any damage occurred. But still have the temptation to take the medrol 10-days scheme. Any suggestion is more than welcome.

Thank you everyonea και πολλά φιλιά @vermillion !
