Remeron for Sleep/Anxiety/Tinnitus

@DutchGuy
I lost a lot of weight and even if I eat a lot the inner anxiety burns it off.
It's a weight loss program from hell.

I'm not endorsing remeron. It may be helping but I'm tapering off to see.
I've taken it with gabapentin and I get up to eat then go back to sleep...sometimes.
Depends on my level of anxiety.

My Psych Dr. said Remeron (Mirtazapine) is actually more sedating at lower dosages. If you want it strictly for sleep, that might be something to consider.

I tried it for sleep on a couple of occasions and while it made me drowsy, I really didn't sleep well on it - but was left remarkably groggy the next day and felt like a major hangover.

I found Trazodone to be much better for sleep personally, but that med gives me anxiety and panic attacks if taken long enough.

I respond really odd to any anti-depressant I have tried which is why I have been using low dose benzos and CBT.

I have considered trying low dose Amitriptyline for some help with sleep and maybe a bit of help for T - although the results of that seem mixed.

Remeron can be, but not for me. No hangover from it, I got hangover from amitriptyline big time.

Amitripriptyline knocked me out at first and lowered T because I was a zombie. But that wore off and I had to up the dose.
No help to T after getting used to it.

I read that some AD's will benefit 5 or 6 of ten persons. We all are reacting differently on meds.
I hope I can find one (the first one) that will kick in directly. I need an AD for insomnia and anxiety/depression.
I was always anti AD, but now I think I have to choose between to lesser of evils.
It takes a long time here in my country (beacause of waiting lists) before I can see a psychiatrist.

Yes I am certain that Remeron caused my spike. I got a great nights sleep and woke up with the loudest Tinnitus I have ever experienced. It took a full 48 hours to get back to normal.

Like I said in an earlier post, I got a PM from another forum member who was still only slowly recovering 4 months later from a spike which she ascribed to taking Remeron over a 15 day period.

From what I have read on this forum, the reaction to medications varies by individual. There are many forum members who have used Remeron with no negative side effects.

The silver lining for me was I committed to going the non medication route which is working pretty well. My sleep has improved a lot and my anxiety is a lot less frequent. I am probably making progress at habituating. I use hearing aids with white noise masking and an external masking Bluetooth loudspeaker which helps me with sleep.

I think that Tinnitus is so individualistic that we each end up determining what works best for us whether it be medication, masking sounds, exercise and foods to avoid.

@Dubinvero
You take no medication to help yo how about the beginning when you got T? I've had mine for a little over 1 month and can't sleep for the life of me. I have bee taking ambien for some kind of rest

If it's just for sleep then a very small dose of 3-5mgs works very well.

.last night i took 12 g mirtazipine and 0.5 klonopam ? sleep well. but wake up with bigest T that ususaly .usualy i taking just 0.5 klonopam and 25 voldoxan but not sleep well. so what do you think continue mirtazipine or quit it ? in time mirtazipine can increase or reduse T ?
