Repeated Modified Nerve Blocks and Auditory and Non-Auditory Nerve Stimulation

Uhh just a heads up for anyone thinking of doing this, and is prescribed a controlled substance. I just found out Klonopin is prohibited from entry without a narcotics permit issued by the Korean FDA, even though doctors will prescribe you it if you bring your US script.

I found about this yesterday, the process takes 10 business days to get an answer on the permit.

I don't have time for that since I leave tomorrow morning, so I'm going to bring them anyway, because at this point I'm physically dependent on them and withdrawal will for sure make my tinnitus worse.

According to a few people I've spoken to, they don't bat an eye at pill bottles at customs (unless you are bringing in a metric f-ton).

I'm contacting a bunch of doctors in Korea frantically trying to make an appointment in case they don't let them in. The tinnitus clinic I'm going to will prescribe them, but I can't wait 3 days to get them.

Lovely!
How much do you take and for how long have you taken it?

Can't speak for Korea, but similar rules apply in Singapore and Indonesia and I fly in and out all the time with Xanax and no one ever bats an eye. Just make sure it is in the original Rx bottle and that you have the script with you just in case they ask questions.

So many people here take benzos. Do you take them rarely, on bad days only for example?

Should be all good. If they confiscate it, I found a doctor who will prescribe it in Korea.

I'll report back in a few days.

Yes I try to limit myself, probably use the minimum dose of .25 mg on average about once a week. It does so little there is really no point but at least it gives me something to reach for if I am really struggling. I am very conscious not to get into the habit of using it regularly or at higher doses.

.25 mg is a very low dose. I have tapered down to .375 mg at night. Due to perhaps tolerance and the low dosage, it does not really do much for me, but I do not want to jump off quite yet until I reach .25 mg and then go even lower.

I'm sure the pain clinic doctors will prescribe them if you ask them.

Do you have to isolate for COVID-19 upon arrival if I may ask? You mentioned three days?

Fingers crossed for maximum success.

No problem getting in with the Klonopin, no one checked anything.

If you are fully vaxxed within 180 days, no isolation.

My girlfriend and I just arrived.

First treatment:

The entire staff are extremely nice and caring.

Massive spike 30 minutes after treatment that returned to baseline after a nap (super jetlagged).

Immediate side effects were dizziness and pain in my jaw.

I went to a restaurant later, came out thinking the amount of soju I drank and how loud it was on the restaurant would wreck my ears.

It is surprisingly quiet right now.

Today was a 'bad' day for me when I went into the clinic. Typically bad days just get worse, not better.

This doesn't really show or prove anything, just thought some insight on how the day went would be useful.

I'll keep y'all posted.

You're an absolute legend, mate. Thanks for the updates and best of luck!

Bryson, take it easy, it is super easy to read too much into the self-perceived level of tinnitus, especially when you are super attuned to how it might be changing. If you are staying at the same place for the entirety of your time, maybe you can make a benchmark against the noise in the shower or the like.

In any case, thank you so much for doing this. I know you are doing this in hopes of improving your own situation but in truth you are also doing this for all of us. Thank you, stay strong and enjoy the soju and BBQ.

Where in Korea are you?

Got a few questions so here you go:

Lidocaine is used at every session. Placenta derivatives are optional, Soo Ji Sirh said if I don't see any effect from lidocaine in the first few sessions then we can start that ad well.

I am in seongdong gu, clinic is in Gangnam.

One of the foreigners is still here. He is on his 17th session. Apparently he has seen improvements in the sense that he wakes up with it, but it gets better throughout the day where before it was constant. I could be wrong on that, didn't ask too much about him.

@AfroSnowman, in all honesty I am probably the worst test subject since mine is so random and fluctuates so much on bad days. There is no now of knowing of there has been any improvement after 1 session, and it will probably be 1-2 weeks before I can make that conclusion.

@BrysonKingMe, thanks for the update.

Are you doing 3 treatments per week now?

There have been a lot of discussion about what the cost for this really is? Can you please clarify? Do you pay per treatment or is there a kind of a package price?

@Uklawyer, did you ever hear back from the other patient?
Hi @Gb3, not much at all. Did text a little today. I don't think they will mind me saying that the above description has some truth to it. I think they just want to wait until it's done to provide something definitive.

@BrysonKingMe, happy to hear things are going okay. Hope you get the breakthrough you are looking for.
