Going to a rocket launch tonight in Florida!

Will be 4 miles away from the launch pad. Hoping this does not aggravate my tinnitus. They say the sound will be a very low rumble.

I'd take plugs and muffs for that, and not just in case, you will definitely need them. Rocket launches are one of the loudest events known to man, probably only second to a nuclear bomb going off.

Saturn V was around 204 dB at launch which is enough to melt concrete, damage buildings, and kill people within a certain range. I'm a huge space nerd and have been to the Kennedy Space Centre and have seen all of the most famous rockets and shuttles, etc.

Even at 3-4 miles away, the sound levels can be in excess of 120 dB and you will literally feel the ground rumbling as well as your body. Not to mention the sonic booms which can be as loud as a shotgun.

I have no idea how loud the launch was and/or how it went, but I know that it's already happened. I hope you was well prepared for it?

The launch was magnificent! It was a SpaceX launch. It sounded like a huge thunder rumble. Lots of bass, no treble which is what my ears are sensitive to. You could literally feel the sound waves through the air as it went overhead. However, all of that lasted less than a minute. I had my 27dB musician's ear plugs in and at no point was I uncomfortable. It's amazing what man has accomplished.
